thanks, Kripke, for making me think of the song. So here, now the rest of you get to, also! I'm giving that way.

I believe the children are our future )

I want one. yes. Merchandising, GET ON IT.

And speaking of merchandising, Hot Wheels should get on making more copies of the Impala.
If you wanna give me a name, here's where you leave it.

In no particular order, ten "facts" about:

Sam Anders - BSG )

Talia Winters - B5 )

Derek Reese - TSCC )

Kyle Reese 2.0 - TSCC )

Dean Winchester - Supernatural )

More later!

FYI: Superman/Batman: Public Enemies -- the animated direct-to-dvd movie - SLASHIEST THING EVER.
"You killed my boy best friend, you bastard!"
Frantic clutching, near-death experiences, tearful farewells, and some rather arch dialogue.
Pairing: Kara/Sam
Characters: Anders, Kara, and Tessa (from Supernatural)
Spoilers: BSG: through Daybreak. none for SPN except the character
Rating: PG
Wordcount: 10K
Summary: When Death comes for Sam, he refuses to heed the call this time.

Note: While this is technically a crossover with Supernatural, it's all BSG-verse, 4.5 canon, and a stranger visits Sam. yeah, that's all you need.

I started this ages ago, around the time of the SPN ep, "Death Takes a Holiday" and got stalled on my own distaste for 4.5 canon, but boy, it feels good to FINALLY get it out the door. Extra hugs and thanks go to [livejournal.com profile] sabaceanbabe who undertook cleanup duty!

Title and quote and even a few lines in the middle are pilfered from Neil Gaiman, both Sandman and, of course, Death: The High Cost of Living, and probably stuff I don't even consciously remember. Because, yeah, who else?

The High Cost of Living )

"Only the Phoenix rises and does not descend.
And everything changes.
And nothing is truly lost."

I think I fell through a flaw in the time-space continuum. I swear there was no Fri or Saturday...

a few Supernatural 504, FlashForward 102 thoughts )

Also, just for anyone wondering, I didn't and I'm not gonna watch SG-U. If several actors I like a lot weren't enough to keep me watching SGA, I just don't see the point when all the same PTB are involved.

other than that, I'm trying to catch up on fic which I've let get away from me, with all the school meetings and other random crap I've had this week.

ETA: For any Tahmoh fans who may not know, Trick R Treat is FINALLY out on DVD this Tues. Two YEARS later...

Kiddo is watching "Pooh's Heffalump Movie" and the voice for Eeyore is the same as the voice for Optimus Prime. It's a bit... strange but funny to think about.

David Anders and Kandyse McClure are in what's surely a FABULOUS movie on the channel formerly known as SciFi tonight.... and again, I'm faced with the choice of the "pretty" vs. "oh god, braincells"...

In weird genre news of the day -- I saw in the paper that Peter Wingfield just sold his house in Studio City. Maybe he'll move closer to me?

And now for Supernatural , "Free to Be You and Me."

SPOILERS AND STUFF )
Category: Gen
Characters: Dean and Castiel
Spoilers: Through 502.
Summary: After defeating War, Dean's on his own.

Note: This was written for [livejournal.com profile] thandie in the Fall Fandom Free For All . It might not be the smartest thing ever to debut in a new fandom with a quickly written story, but I wanted to get it in before the new ep tonight. This fandom is contagious!

So, after, um, a really long time, I have finally bid farewell to Baal in my LJ and redone it. I figured now that [livejournal.com profile] stargate_summer is over and The Road to Tartarus is done, and also Supernatural is back that it was time. I missed amnesty for Stargate Summer, oops. Perhaps I'll bundle up the deleted scenes anyway and PM the few interested people with the link.

I *heart* the new header a lot. I'm still fiddling with the color scheme a bit, since it's not a premade layout and it was kind of spontaneous today, but! It's NEW! (you guys who are newish don't understand - I SWORE I wouldn't change my header until Tartarus was out the door. That was ... two years ago. *g*) So it's very exciting. I'll probably change them more often now.

Also, today's home-improvement project is half done: I changed the handles on my kitchen cabinets. They are no longer ca.1982. They're at least 1995 now! (there's only so much handles can do with these hideous cabinets, but we're not changing the kitchen that much, knowing we're going to rip it out again to embiggen the house eventually).

a bit more on SPN 501 )

And in other news, I'm STILL peeling from my sunburn. It's itchy and GROSS. ew.

Oh, man, it's good to avoid spoilers to have your internet be out, but CRAZY MAKING anyway! grr.

Thankfully it's come back. I can only presume that crazy fangirls broke my ISPs servers, as they broke Twitter earlier today. lol.

SYMPATHY FOR THE DEVIL )

yay, it's back!
Supernatural fic. Gen. PG.

Summary: Samantha Winchester finds her brother Dean in her Stanford apartment... (or, in fan-speak: Genderbend rewrite of pilot, *g*)

Note: I wrote this awhile back as an exercise for myself, in how the show might've started if Sam had been a girl. It's neither beta'd (sorry) or, honestly, all that different from canon (a lot of the dialogue is lifted directly, and of course, so is the plot). Because I wrote it for myself, I didn't duplicate most of the scenes, just the ones I wanted to. And now that I've completely chased you away, here you go. :)

So Dreamwidth. I have one (lizardbeth.dreamwidth.org) and have been slowly poking my way around over there. I'm still not exactly sure what I'm going to do with it, except I really like the way you can subscribe to people without at the same time giving them access to your locked posts - though I haven't done that yet. So if you're over there, gimme a heads up (especially if you changed your name, cuz I may not know you are you. and that would be sad. Though if everyone's crossposting, it probably doesn't make too much of a diff I guess.)

There is the possibility (rumor?) that anyone who has logged in with OpenID (i.e. your LJ username) at Dreamwidth, will get an invite at open beta at the end of the month. Did you know that with OpenID you can even have six icons over there you can reply with? It's like a miniaccount. If you don't want to set up a journal over there, but you want to reply to posts (and not be an anonymouse), that's an easy thing to do.

So fanfic nemesis L Goldberg (the writer of "authorized tie-ins, a.k.a. fanfic for which he gets paid) is going to be a guest at the Festival of Books, this weekend. I wish I could go heckle.

BRB.

NEED OXYGEN.

The monster at the end of this book )

oh, I feel like I should do some kind of smart compare-contrast with Wormhole X-Treme or Heroes, but I CAN'T THINK.
First, more for [livejournal.com profile] bsg_pornbattle:

Til you feel it, Anders/Leoben. Set during the Caprica resistance, and a prequel to my Sam/Leoben pseudo-series, begun in Hiding Myself in Your Eyes .

And some brief comments on teevee this past week:

LOST: He's Our You )

Supernatural: It's a Terrible Life )

TSCC: To the Lighthouse )
SHOW.

It's hard enough having a whole episode about DYING, and THEN, to put your tribute to Kim Manners at the end? GAH. I was doing okay until that dedication came up, and even though I didn't know him personally or anything, there were tears in my eyes. It's like the end of The Crow, where I tear up every single time I see that "for Brandon and Liza" dedication at the end. *sniffles*

(I have, I admit, gotten a whole lot more weepy in general since Kidlet was born. I blame hormonal imbalance.) I DO NOT NEED THIS RIGHT BEFORE BSG IS GOING TO RIP OUT MY HEART AGAIN, SOME MORE.

Anyway, the actual episode, if I can see it through my tears.

LYING LIARS WHO LIE AND THE DEAD )

more wacky angel/demon hijinx next week!

Burn Notice had actual Tricia content last night! More than one scene, even!
Fiona playing with the boy was hilariously awesome.
And I love the little title cards to identify people, especially when they change. aw.

Supernatural was more interesting than awesome. I liked the show tackling a mature theme. mature except the scene with "The Chief" (but it was really funny). Best part was the title probably. I wonder if anyone from the show or studio warned Criss Angel? Wonder how he took it? Hopefully he had a sense of humor about it (though I kind of doubt it, since I suspect the title's actually true).

Still haven't watched LOST. There was hardly any teevee for ages and now everything is coming back all at once.
Given the PAGE of the [livejournal.com profile] the_wireless entries for today, I was not the only one trying to get my fic in under the wire. *snicker*

Okay. SPOILERS. Given that I know screeners are out and there is ALWAYS someone who can't help themselves, I'm hiding under a rock. I am comfortable with my level of spoiledness - I know just enough to be intrigued, but not have it laid out for me in a recap before I even watch. I did that for Crossroads, and it sucked. Watching it felt like I'd seen it before, and what's the point of that?

Plus, new Supernatural tomorrow for which I am completely unspoiled (much easier when I'm not much in the fandom). yay!

And, in sad news,
both Ricardo Montalban and Patrick McGoohan died today. :(
hm, it has been awhile. Last entry was.... oh yes. *snicker*

Apparently if you put "math" in the title of a meta, almost everybody runs away. I didn't even 'show my work'. My high school teachers would be sighing a lot.

let's see -- in personal life: Thanksgiving weekend was full of family and friends and kidlet vacation (a.k.a. keeping him entertained and out of trouble). I made mediocre green beans, and yummy cranberry relish, so it kind of balanced out for Turkey Day. The most interesting thing I shopped for all weekend was... wait for it... CHEESE. I ALMOST ordered something online for a present, though. Almost. I'm so tempted to get him all these cool things and I must resist!

In writing, I added a bit to part III of the Plot!Kraken. Oh yes, it's the annual Yuletide procrastination game!

In t.v.... I feel like I have things to say about SCC and Supernatural, but I don't really want to bother. Fandom disappoints me far more than the shows do, though. If I had a quarter for all the people indulging in some nostalgic glow for Old!Ruby, when 90% of fandom HATED Ruby... yeah. I'm kind of loving her even more now, but then I like Jesse on SCC too. I like characters who have their own agenda and don't lay it out for the audience's convenience.

Dexter continues to be a thing of beauty. Screwed up and WRONGY WRONG WRONG, but awesome. Miguel is the best foil for Dexter ever. "They told me it would come out!" SO FUNNY.

Carved my pumpkin last night - thank goodness it's not a very complicated design this year because the pumpkin was horrible: very thick, tough HIDE, green fibers running along the ribs, plus really stringy flesh. blech. Not a good choice at all. But my Jack Skellington and Zero are still pretty cute. Hubby's Batman turned out well, and Rugrat's own Jack-o-lantern design is pretty cool.

But I have to say, carving pumpkins and plotting which Halloween candy to buy for the trick-or-treaters, is a bit surreal and freaky while watching Supernatural, and the episode starts with RAZOR BLADES IN HALLOWEEN CANDY. *shudders to infinity*

"it's the great pumpkin, Sam Winchester".

and yet more of my buttons are pushed -- SPOILERS )

ok, gotta slip into my costume for the carnival at kidlet's school and go set up!

On my old computer I had a little program which was sort of an outline/plotting writer's help program. I don't remember what it was called - but I'm running into a need to track some concurrent timelines and I think it would be handy. Anyone know what I'm talking about, or have another suggestion?

I know there is that Old Skool method of cards too *g*, but I would like to find that program again.

ETA: Aha! yWriter. I love it when I find things like this again. Such a handy wee program.

*

Supernatural was the funniest thing I've seen in a LOOOONG time. yes. *snicker*
I hope Jensen knows he's going to have to do that again at every con he goes to FOREVER.

Yay, Book Fair is done! All packed up and accounted and money deposited. And now... it's time for Halloween Carnival. Nope, once they get their claws in you, they never let go...
