First, because it was totally my prompt at Epics, kag523 wrote a fun Kara/Sam AU of them pre-series, One Night in Hades . I've always wanted an AU where the pilot Anders who gets namechecked in the mini was 'our' Sam. And Karin wrote it! And it's fun and sexy (and makes me sad knowing they're about to get their teeth kicked in by the Cylons, but, y'know, it wouldn't be BSG-fic without dread somewhere, right?) so go read it and encourage the writing of Kara/Sam. Because I am totally depressed that our own ficathon had no readers except the people who wrote for it. :( THIS IS WRONGY WRONG WITH WRONG SAUCE, fandom.

I abandoned my Yuletide fic as hopelessly stupid and unworkable, and I am now trying to come up with something else. BOO FOR FAILED IDEAS.

Thanks for the wishes and stuff, it's much appreciated being the day I officially become not young. :)

Except for an ant invasion this morning, which was successfully fended off with bleach (DIE BUG DIE!), the rest of the day went well with some nice surprises.

My local coffee shop gave me a cupcake! It pays to go where everyone knows your name, yes.

I also got a birthday tweet from Sarah Shahi! (one of her other fans has a bday tomorrow and we were talking and Sarah must have clicked her mentions list at exactly the right moment). Still, she didn't have to tweet at me. She's a sweetheart.

And by the way, she confirmed they start FL production at the end of the month. Given they started last year right after Labor Day, I am increasingly dubious of a January airdate. Sigh.

My parents took me to lunch and gave me money. Money specifically earmarked for me. The word CONVENTION was even mentioned (yes, my parents know me well, lol).

And from hubby, we got a Wii! YAY.

Tomorrow is the friends' luncheon, so that'll be fun.
