So Dreamwidth. I have one (lizardbeth.dreamwidth.org) and have been slowly poking my way around over there. I'm still not exactly sure what I'm going to do with it, except I really like the way you can subscribe to people without at the same time giving them access to your locked posts - though I haven't done that yet. So if you're over there, gimme a heads up (especially if you changed your name, cuz I may not know you are you. and that would be sad. Though if everyone's crossposting, it probably doesn't make too much of a diff I guess.)

There is the possibility (rumor?) that anyone who has logged in with OpenID (i.e. your LJ username) at Dreamwidth, will get an invite at open beta at the end of the month. Did you know that with OpenID you can even have six icons over there you can reply with? It's like a miniaccount. If you don't want to set up a journal over there, but you want to reply to posts (and not be an anonymouse), that's an easy thing to do.

Look, I was predisposed to like this episode just from the title alone. Kripke and Co have already proven that they're fandom savvy. A little too much probably, but for this, they knew that's what some fans would say about a new Winchester brother. And considering how much I LOATHE the overuse of "jump the shark" (I hate it only slightly less than "Mary Sue"), I love a bit of preemptive neener, neener at the fans. HA!

Not a lot (any?) of Lillith-arc-y stuff, but quite a lot of Winchester-y goodness. Man, poor Dean and finding out that John did dad things with Adam. (and yes, I did just type Adama there, and I don't even WRITE the Adamas very often. oh BSG!) Dean was so jealous. But it was great to see him in very focused, hunting form. Even if he didn't actually have the right test.

Kind of a bummer to think "Adam" was playing them the whole time. I thought at first he'd gotten killed off-screen and replaced during the ep, but I guess it was the ghoul!Adam the whole time. *sad* I liked pretend!Adam. (DAMN IT, I Keep typing ADAMA. The fingers just don't want to believe I don't want another A at the end).

Sammy -- all about vengeance. *shakes head* He had a point, that the kid was now in danger, and should be able to protect himself, and even letting Adam in on the hunt for the thing that killed his mom. Because yeah, that's what he did; he gets that feeling because it's what he's living. And yet, it didn't seem like sympathy, somehow. He didn't really acknowledge that Adam hadn't been raised in the life and he was likely to be in even more danger, than just going back to his normal life. Also, it's not like he isn't living with the results of exactly how well vengeance has worked out for the family. At least Dean seems to be getting wiser to all this never-ending circle of family vengeance (which presumably the revelation about their dad kicking off the ghouls' vengeance, should hammer home).

And John. OH, man! Worthless Bastard of So-Called Father, indeed. (and I can NOT wait to find out if Demian invents a new epithet for him). I can understand the idea of wanting a second chance with this boy he just found out was his kid - 'wanting to do right' by him sort of thing. I don't really blame him for that (though I do hurt on Dean and Sam's behalf finding out that Dad did all those things with another kid, he couldn't/wouldn't do for them). But what I DO blame him for was not even TELLING Dean, or letting Dean be a part of it. Sam was gone to Stanford, so yeah, he wouldn't have known, but Dean was hunting with John at the time. So the impression I get is that John ditched Dean to go off and play happy families. If it's safe for YOU, John, to go there, then why isn't it safe for Dean to know? grr. Jesus, no wonder Dean has daddy issues. He should be on LOST. (not that I need another crossover bunny, but Dean on Craphole Island would be awesome)

Though I do have to say with all the different supernatural creatures and beasties and FAMILIES of same, it's really a wonder that there aren't a lot more dead people in SPn verse. Ghouls? ick. I'm not sure what, if anything, I should read into the ghoul sucking Sam's blood, just the way he did Ruby's. But it was still icky.

I LOVED the return of hunter!Dean putting on the badass. yes. And the theme of revenge and where does it stop?

So fanfic nemesis L Goldberg (the writer of "authorized tie-ins, a.k.a. fanfic for which he gets paid) is going to be a guest at the Festival of Books, this weekend. I wish I could go heckle.

I'm glad that my predictions about Sam being the one that takes after John are proven correct.

I keep typing Adama, too. I had to do a quick minor edit to Wikipedia.

The way John treated Adam vs. Dean and Sam is so unfair, but believable. And not Adama's (see?) fault. I wish he hadn't died.
