argh, so I tried to add this to the previous post but LJ didn't like it, so here have a poll.

Since my Person of Interest/Avengers crossover mostly deals with Reese, I was wondering what you all who have some familiarity with both would do with Finch. If you want to play along with my crack brain, because of course you do. :)

[Poll #1850241]

(oops. That option should read "comments" not "comics", but if you want to tell me in comics, I guess I wouldn't complain...*G*)

y'know, because I haven't been in this fandom long enough *kof* I've been thinking about doing a rewatch from the beginning. Back when it restarted on BBCA I was intending to watch it then, but Saturday is always a terrible day to watch t.v. so I haven't done a total rewatch in ... a long time. And I realized I've kind of forgotten things and maybe I'd be more inclined to finish my WIPs again if I watched it all again in order, not random eps.

Also, this LJ has been pretty quiet. Even when I do have something to write about I don't, so in the spirit of the Blog About A Hundred Things challenge, I think maybe I could at least blog about something I actually know.

[Poll #1836296]

So I don't know if it'll be daily or sort of daily or whatever, but I do know that if I have some other people sort of waiting on it (even if you aren't, feel free to lie, because that's motivating), I'll do it.

I have now made my official "PLEASE THROW SOME PITY VOTES AT SAM ANDERS POST". OVER HERE .

Because 30 votes make me sad. You guys, the TODDLER from Modern Family, who's only said like three words (okay, one of 'em was fuck, but still), has 70 votes. She was played by an actual DOLL half the time in previous seasons. HOW IS THIS RIGHT?? *heaves a big sad sigh for the STATE OF HUMANITY*

and in the meantime Trucco continues to be adorkable on Twitter on his second day. I'm fairly sure he resisted so long because he knew it would out him as being so DAMN ENTERTAINING. I knew he'd be adorb with Sandra, and they are. But also JR Bourne called him his best friend and said MT gave him his bike for his B-day, and I about died from the strength of their BFF-ery.

Twitter: there to get you overinvested in the lives of strangers. So weird, when you think about it, and yet delightful.

Anyway, in other FMM thoughts )

Going back to Twitter. can't stop. won't stop.

It has come to my attention that several of you may possibly be woefully uneducated UNFORTUNATELY DEPRIVED of learning about

THE AWESOMENESS OF DANA KATHERINE SCULLY
- FBI agent, medical doctor, genius scientist
- packed heat (for the girls-are-hotter-with-guns contingent)
- had heart and soul
- put up with Mulder for almost ten years
- flawlessly beautiful
- kidnapped by aliens, experimented on by humans, whatever, she never ever gave up on looking for the truth

Do you like Olivia Dunham? Scully's her fictional ancestor.
Do you like Kate Beckett? Scully was the rational half of the wacky-boy/rational-girl pair before it became trendy. She was also referred to by her partner by her last name.
Do you like Sam Carter? Scully's thesis rewrote EINSTEIN
Do you like UST relationships? Scully/Mulder kept it going for... a really long time.

I think, If I figured the SF/F bracket properly, given the votes at closing, boys will be against boys, and girls will be against girls. No, wait, that's not the amazing part.

IT IS COMPLETE PARITY.

CHECK IT OUT )

Damn, it's kind of beautiful how symmetrical that worked out.

(and relevant only to me -- Sam ended tied with Bill, at least. WHAT? It's the little things!)

THE OFFICE (of all things!) is being EPIC in FMM. It's staying neck and neck, Jim and Kelly. And Kirk and Bones (behind Spock, but still, tied.)
I'm glad Sue isn't trampling everyone in Glee this year!

Was Pacey always that beloved in Dawson's Creek, or is he getting a bump because of Fringe?

and... some categories have WAY TOO MANY characters listed. scroll,scroll...

But anyway, as it stands right now thirty minutes ago yesterday ...
the theoretical ROUND ONE seedings for the SF/Fantasy bracket )

It's one of my favorite times of the year! CHARACTER PREMLIMS!

*refreshes poll again*

KONO IS CATCHING UP TO DANNY. GRACE FANS REPRESENT!

I love how spread out the love is for the characters on Justified. Because they're all great, and while Raylan obvs dominates, there's lots of love for all the secondaries.

The three people who picked Nikki for LOST crack me up. Rock on, you crazy people!

Also, throw some pity votes at Anders? FOR ME? *blinks winsomely* Kara's got in the bag anyway, and Sam beat out Sobbin' Adama last year....

It's raining again! Good thing I have my new phone so I can update from Noah's ark!

I have my Fic Roundup of 2010 ready to go, now to wait for Yuletide reveal so I can post it all together.

In that spirit, I have two things which I could buff a bit and post another chapter, and I'm curious if there's a particular preference. They are both infrequently updated crossover WIPs and neither would be finished with this post, just so you know.

Their first chapters, if you need a refresher:
A Shadow on the Pattern , BSG/B5 Crossover

Another New Hope , BSG/Star Wars Mashup crossover

SO, TO THE POLLS, MY FRIENDS!

Yuletide fandom nominations always give me such unholy glee. Especially when the script has apparently failed in blocking any fandom, so Supernatural is in the list. I'm pretty sure we can all agree that's a terribly rare and obscure fandom, right?

Not speaking of SPN at all, no, becuase I'm supposed to be thinking NaNo, NOT a SPN/TVD crossover, even though SPN totally made me do it with the preview. Oh yes, speaking of NaNo thank you all for playing in the VERY INCONCLUSIVE poll. *glares balefully at Sbabe* So let's have a better poll.

[Poll #1632770]

You can even flip a real coin if you want. Just don't change your vote after you see the others so it stays random(ish).

Given that I want to write something original for NaNo I still have great heaps of ideas, half-formed scribbles, and fanfic to rub the serial numbers from to use *g* So I need your help to narrow it down, flist!

To stave off the obvious "just write what you feel most inspired to write" -- yes, I know, and I may very well do that anyway. BUT, since this is, at least in theory, something I would like you to spend your cold-hard cash on, some day, input at which sound the best/most interesting would be helpful!

These are the four I have some characters and some plot already figured out.
1.Romantic thriller with SFnal elements. A scientist trying to invent a new method of space travel meets a concert pianist, and together they have to fight off terrorists who want the scientist's accidental weapon.
2. Alternate History/Fantasy. The walls of Byzantium have to hold against the not-exactly-Mongol Horde (they have dragons, y'all. Things get grim), even as its leaders face internal pressure in this cosmopolitan, political place and a coup in Roma. Yes, it's fucking epic with a cast of zillions stretching from Scotland to Damascus.
3. Fantasy. History comes back to bite not-Earth Epicland in the ass when an archaelogical expedition turns up an artifact that breaches the Veil to the abyssal plane where the demons lurk. People start getting brutally murdered, and the wizard's council is too busy failing at leadership. Thus three plucky students have to investigate and get in lots of trouble.
4. Fantasy. Four friends at college are surprised to find out that one of them isn't a human at all, when another falls through a portal to another Earth where the Sidhe now rule. The others go through to rescue, and the human friends have to fight their way through a dark, dangerous world they know nothing about to rescue their friend.

[Poll #1631823]

I'm not going to bother with a NaNo filter, I don't think. Any bitching will be behind a cut, and I probably won't' post more than some snippets, anyway. The only thing I would ask is that nobody be less than encouraging, if I end up posting any of the draft.

If anyone else is doing NaNo, I'll be buddies! I'm lizardbeth

You know you've been in fandom too long when typing the word "speed" wants to turn into "squee". heh

I have ranted about the Crazy Cat People in my neighborhood before. These are the people who seem to believe feeding their cats is all the responsibility they have. I'm off to animal control where I'm going to have to spend money to rent traps because THEIR cats are breeding like frakking rabbits. HULK SMASH!! Which is not all of the story, but. eugh. vile people. *shudder* Bad neighbors, can't live with 'em, can't kill 'em.

Wow, I realized I only watch, like, five shows that presented at Comic-Con (and I'm already three eps behind on True Blood) and except for TVD and SPN I'm not very fannish about any of them. BAD FANGIRL, no biscuit. I should possibly stir my lazy butt and catch up on SOMETHING, at least.

So here, have a useless poll:

[Poll #1598077]
For your reference, the shows at Comic-Con that I watch are: Burn Notice, White Collar, SPN, Vampire Diaries, True Blood, Dexter, and the last ten minutes of Smallville. I think. That's all I can think of that's been mentioned in the media. Which is kinda sad, isn't it? (eta: oh, Castle had a panel, too, IIRC. It's another I watch if it's on, but I don't cry if I miss one)

We watched the first ep of "Pillars of the Earth" which was interesting. Ian McShane is always a fun villain. I read the book a long time ago, but I don't remember much, so I have no idea how or if they're changing it to make it into an ongoing series. It seems a bit like Rome but set several hundred (ok, more like a thousand) years later. With less nudity, at least so far. *g*

You'd think I'd be done with the crack after the crack fic yesterday, but NO!

Today we have a Very Important Poll. This obviously relates to the Castle/V Epic Crossover of Epicness I'm still writing (because I have no Big Bangs or anything else to do, nope). Lest you all get TOO excited, the Leverage part of it is not much more than an Easter Egg, but it's fun.
[Poll #1570087]
(btw, I didn't forget Maggie. She was actually my first choice -- given Meteor Storm, it seemed obvious -- but then I remembered she and Nate had a kid together. So, she doesn't work. It doesn't work that well for Nate either, but at least there's be some canon precendent).

If you have any particular reason for your choice, I'd love to hear it.

For my own curiosity and because I don't like being ranty, have a poll!

I have the sequel to Not all that we are nearly done in draft. It is longish - about 40,000 words. So I was wondering how y'all want to read it. I don't promise to follow your wishes, since it may depend on how the editing goes. But, I'm curious.

(And if you're not gonna read it because it's not your fandom or whatever, feel free to skip)

So, Not All That We Are 2: At the Labyrinth Gates....
