Sunday we went to the Dodgers game. It was Little League day, so the kids in their uniforms got to parade around the field. It was very cute. Also saw the Dodgers win - apparently we brought good luck, since all the rest of the Los Angeles teams lost on the weekend (though the Kings just clinched a spot for the Stanley Cup, which has been forever so that's exciting, especially when the Lakers suck). I'm kind of glad we have a break for Memorial Day though, before heading back to LL for another two weeks. It's killing my back sitting on those benches.

list of my other fannish doings:
1. My cranky-ish review of Fairly Legal, last friday. So many cranky words I held back.

2. Nikita finale review . much more YAYAYAYAY

3. "I know where the dead ends are", a fun little BSG/Terminator x-over fic I wrote for [livejournal.com profile] 13th_tribe. (and sorry if you see the crosspost several times, I'm trying to spread them out a bit since ppl aren't around as much.)

4. I just bought a Loki T-Shirt and a Shield hoodie. CURSE YOU HIDDLESTON. I was doing okay until I saw that photo AGAIN and then my brain went into some kind of spasm and I had to go look at the store. I DO WHAT I WANT.

5. Had a chance to watch a couple of pilots. I have to write them up so I'll link with more detail, but I liked Longmire a lot. It isn't heavily Katee in the pilot, just FYI. So if you're watching only for her, it's not gonna be for you. I'm sure a lot of people will be put off by the pace (and I fear that commercials are going to ruin it), but it has a really great moodiness to it.

Also watched Arrow and Beauty and the Beast -- I think they both have potential, though they're both starting out at a pretty derivative place. Not just because they're off other properties but Arrow is the offspring of Smallville and Batman Begins, and Beauty and the Beast is basically Person of Interest, but from what would be Carter's pov (Kristen Kreuk is not the actress Taraji Henson is, but she's better than she used to be, and if they give her better dialogue that'll help). Anyway, I will totally end up writing crossovers, because, duh.

6. also I am not receiving comments, though luckily I can at least get my own in the LJ inbox. If you've replied to me anywhere else, though, I haven't seen it. I'm not ignoring you, I just don't know. :( Anything you want a response to, make sure to drop me a link or copy it here or something while this is messed up. Thanks.

- watched Leverage. hEEEE. The Troi gag was hilarious - if mostly because my first instinct is to say "Dude, she's like your MOM." lolol.

- "Once Upon a Time" -- why hello there handsome stranger again )

Nikita was full of badass squeeful moments, both shippy and non. Though having Sean there all gratuitously unclothed *g* made Shane look too thin and even haggard by comparison. I don't know if he's been sick or just exhausted, but there are certain shots where he doesn't even look well.

I have a feeling there was more. I didn't watch Golden Globes because if you think it's dull watching on the East coast wait til it goes on west coast time delay so you already know all the winners... *snore* NEED MORE DRUNK PEOPLE.

I'm tempted to sign up for [livejournal.com profile] crossbigbang. Either to make myself finish off my B5/BSG cross or to do my Person of Interest/Terminator Idea. I'm also really tempted to do a PofI/Batman cross, but I suspect that's one of those ideas that works better in the screen of my brain than words.
So I'll take this lunch to scribble down some things on both the TVD and Nikita finales.

As I Lay Dying )

I... just blew all the thinky thought above, so I don't have any left for Nikita. But this show just keeps shaking things up amazingly. More later, maybe.

I feel like I've gotten out of the habit of doing these, and so I really ought to go back to it.

So, a few thoughts:

Fairly Legal )

Vampire Diaries )
Nikita- coup de grace  )

Supernatural - Like a Virgin )

And in conclusion, Smallville has reminded me: THERE IS NO SPOON

First, Vampire Diaries. You continue to rock beyond the telling of it.

You know how there's the [livejournal.com profile] girlsavesboy thing? yeah, this show does that. eee.

other spoilers )

Oh, before i forget, since I didn't mention it last week for Nikita:

MY OTHER, OTHER TV BOYFRIEND RUSSELL WONG . please, please, come on Hawaii 5-0 and make it a trifecta of awesome. He's not dead, so he could come back! And maybe pull out some of his badass moves, too. *swoon*

I've only seen bits of this weeks, not the full one, but I'm always down for Nikita shooting things and helping people.

- Thanks for the birthday wishes! I had a lovely day, and then a post-bday-dinner on Friday with family.

- If anyone is interested in an invite to join Archive of Our Own (AO3) for posting your fics, I have one up for grabs.

- I have joined the ranks of actual stereotype. Yes, I'm now officially a Soccer Mom. :) Go RAPTORS! :DD (we were thisclose to being the Panthers, which I wanted just because the countersign to "Go Panthers" was, of course, "C-Bucs Rule". yes, I'm a Soccer Mom, but they'll be prying my fan badge from my cold dead fingers)

- Watching "Sherlock Holmes" (the RDJ version on tv -- which was amusingly mis-identified as the BBC version) -- when the big dude comes out, kidlet asked: "is he a robot?"

THAT'S MY BOY! :DD

- Short notes on Vampire Diaries: It's awesome. !!!! Katherine PWNS everyone, everywhere. Bonnie rules. Stefan is badass and smart and in so much trouble, now that he's got the cobra's attention back on him. Damon's a dick. I'd stake him if I were Elena and get him out of his own misery. He's pretty and funny, but pathetic.

CAROLINE!!! cannot wait.

- Nikita. Has potential. I've seen a few of the old show, but wasn't in love with it, so I don't really care how they compare. Strangely I am already plotting a vid. it's a very visual show. And also, needs to cross with Covert Affairs (which I am still behind on)

But really, the thing that's getting to me most about these two shows? It seems like 80% of the commentary after both shows - mostly elsewhere - has something to do about the 'chemistry' or lack thereof between various pairings.

Can we retire this overused dog of a word? People use it as if it's some sort of objective standard for analysis, when usually it's just code for "I like this pairing" or "I think they're both hot."

"chemistry": You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
