Some fun stuff I've gotten lately--

The Escape from the Mirkwood Spiders from The Hobbit LEGO set
(also the Helm's Deep set, but that's not put together yet).

It does actually spoil a bit of that scene in next year's movie, by the way, because it shows one of Jackson's changes.

Meanwhile, while I was making mistakes building stupid small LEGO trees, A was building his gift from Santa: a LEGO Technic Unimog. 2060 pieces. Motors. Pneumatic pumps.

And in BSG loot news, it happened to come up that I own BSG stuff with the dad of a schoolmate of kiddo, and he happened to have the Emmy screener for S4 which he gave me.

now, dude, I am the first to admit that 4.5 had some issues and didn't deserve an Emmy anyway, BUT, if you see this hideous monstrosity you'll understand why it was never going to happen, regardless of the content.

I also got awesome minimates but I need to take pics.

Now to put together my Fanfiction Wrap Up of 2012 Post for launch New Year's Day. Gonna skip the Fandom Meme because the answer is "Still sort of clinging to BSG even while Tom Hiddleston's face took over my brain and pulled the rest of the MCU with it somehow". (But when I start plotting fics of Loki in Middle-Earth? I MAY HAVE A PROBLEM JUST SAYING)

You guys, it's confirmed that Orlando IS signed for The Hobbit two-parter! (and Cate Blanchett too, btw)

eeeeeeeeee!

I confess I've always been sad that the story developed backwards, in that clearly Legolas ought to be in The Hobbit someplace, except of course he wasn't invented yet. But the movies can 'fix' that and I find it AWESOME. Since part 2 is supposed to be the raid on Dol Guldur (mentioned in the appendices) I presume that's where they'll put him, although it's not like Jackson doesn't deviate from canon when he feels like it, so he may appear in all of the Mirkwood sequences including the Battle of the Five Armies.

So, they have Orli, and Cate, and are in negotiations with McKellan and Hugo Weaving, and then all they need to do is cast someone awesome for Thranduil and all my faves will be there. (and hee, I bet they'll even get Craig Parker back. Heck, while they're at it, might as well get the entire beautiful cast from Seeker in there someplace, since they're gonna need lots of elves)

Hot and sticky again today. But strangely more tolerable, maybe I'm getting used to it. Or I just wasn't out in it as much.

We went inland to a GI Joe/military toy con. Didn't stay long (it's not my thing, and it's not really hubby's but he enjoys the nostalgia of having the toys when he was a kid). I did see some interesting 12" LotR model kits/action figures that I'd never seen before. They were made in Hong Kong, apparently, by a company that usually does military-type figures (and some dolls for Infernal Affairs III, amusingly enough). The figures came with just the under-clothes (like Legolas' silvery shirt) on the body, and the rest of the clothing and accessories were packed separately for you to put on yourself. I was way too tempted to buy the Legolas just to complete my collection of 12" Legolas toys (I am such a sad completist) - BUT I REFUSED TO GIVE IN TO TEMPTATION.

*halo*

(also the likeness was terrible, and the weapons were cheaply painted. But still, if it'd been cheaper I would've bought it, just to have one I could take out and put the clothes on. My Sideshow Premium Format fig I don't even want to get my fingerprints on the box. *am neurotic, I know*)

I got a new cellphone the other day, and I put the James Bond theme on it as my ringtone. I LOVE IT. It gives me great joy - even though I hate Verizon almost as much as I hate Time Warner Cable. Kidlet also likes it and wants me to play it all the time.
