lizardbeth: (Kara-Anders Resistance)

so, the few of you who have seen my C-Bucs shirt know that my previous version of the emblem was very... murky (it was hard to find a good cap), but now? Thanks to the wonders of modern tech and NBC/Universal deciding to make millions of dollars off the fans by selling off every bolt from the set , I now have a PERFECT iron-on transfer on my shirt. WOO HOO! Because yes, I did just wait until today to do it.

Now I have to sew up the sleeve, because I forgot it ripped last time. TACKY!

ETA: Like many other people, I have spare Dreamwidth invites, if anyone wants one. [livejournal.com profile] cujoy, I sent you yours to your LJ email.

Oh my... this turned out... long. But it's the whole thing.

I attended the BSG/Stargate Creation Con in Burbank again last weekend, Nov 16 -18. This year was especially awesome, since I got to meet [livejournal.com profile] lyssie, [livejournal.com profile] sabaceanbabe, [livejournal.com profile] lucyparavel, [livejournal.com profile] greycoupon, [livejournal.com profile] mamaboolj, [livejournal.com profile] ebneter, and mrsMayorofDogsville from Kindreds. And some others whose fannish nicknames I didn't get.

You are all even more awesome in person. Just so's you know. :)

And as always my pictures are crap because I don't have enough zoom and the ballroom lighting is orange. My photoshop skillz are not great, but I tried to make the actors at least recognizable. There are only a handful, so not too many to suffer through. (you can find someone else's better pics when you're done)

My adventure begins...

the end.

Heroes was made of WIN! Totally. But I'm incoherent with tiredness and reading forums.

Con report tomorrow, maybe. Lesson learned at the con: that I too have the capacity in me to be a total fanslut. So I should stop ragging on the Shanks fangirls, because I'm only one step away on a very slippery slope...

Teaser: People are somehow even more awesome in RL than the internets, my knowledge of Canadian actors paid an unexpected dividend, Tahmoh Penikett has a very nice ass but bad taste in sports, Katee Sackhoff is beyond adorable, Bear McCreary is even more of a frakkin' genius than I suspected, Steve Bacic is startlingly charismatic for a guy I think is slightly odd looking (I'm serious - I knew exactly where he was during the party, the entire time. my brain simply refused to let go of his location. It was weird), and Joe Flanigan is a cute dork who is NOT making out with Angie Harmon on "Women's Murder Club" and this tragedy must be rectified IMMEDIATELY. (You hear me, studios? NOW.)

And who knew I would even care about a show I don't WATCH? And yet, now I do. Cons do very strange things to the brain.

That might explain WTF I'm doing still awake.

Step one in Lizardbeth's plan to take over the world to be a costumed cultist is complete.

My belt is almost finished, except for a little touchup on the holster. (I may wear it with my Tok'ra costume, too. I have to put it together and see how it looks. It's definitely more military). Crossover for the win! I have the glove primed, and ready for the white coat. After spending about half an hour masking the rest of it. HOpefully it'll look cool when I'm done...

Step Two: I'm about to cut off the sleeves. Wish me well, for this is very stretchy fabric, and if it unravels I am screwed.

ETA: ahahaha. I may not be able to sew worth a damn, but I can glue like a mofo! \o/

Good luck with flights all you people heading this way! I'll be seeing you soon!

:)
OMG I just laid out some cash for Kara's pyramid jacket in The Farm. It's not exact, but it's very close (it's this years version of the one she has, I think, since apparently a lot of the Bucs gear came directly from Niketown-Vancouver on its way to Caprica...) With a Bucs patch only crazy cosplayers will remember it's different anyway. Even better, it's normal mundane wear, so I can wear it this fall as a normal jacket. But still...

I was so disappointed last night when they had only one medium left and then it went away. And then today large appeared like magic! I figured it was a sign that the Lords of Kobol want me to have this jacket after all.

After rewatching the Farm (most of anyway), I think that Kara's borrowing Sue-Shaun's jacket. *sniff* How sad is that?

This is probably the very definition of tl;dr. But I had to get down as much as possible, since I have the memory of a fruitfly until I write it down. So, enjoy (as much as you can, without actually having been there...)

Warning: Minor spoilers for BSG S4 (which has been all over lj for a week now; yay, me!) and SG-1 S10 finale. Very mild.

Thursday and Friday )

Saturday: Breakfast through A Dog's Breakfast )

Afternoon: JR Bourne and a Special Surprise )

Sunday: Atlantis day )

It was great to do the con thing again, hang out with like-minded people, and meet some of my favorites from the Stargate shows. With SG-1 ending, it felt like a good time to do one, and I'm so glad I did.

Hope you had a tiny fraction of the fun reading as I did going and writing it down! :D
