- Thanks for the birthday wishes! I had a lovely day, and then a post-bday-dinner on Friday with family.
- If anyone is interested in an invite to join Archive of Our Own (AO3) for posting your fics, I have one up for grabs.
- I have joined the ranks of actual stereotype. Yes, I'm now officially a Soccer Mom. :) Go RAPTORS! :DD (we were thisclose to being the Panthers, which I wanted just because the countersign to "Go Panthers" was, of course, "C-Bucs Rule". yes, I'm a Soccer Mom, but they'll be prying my fan badge from my cold dead fingers)
- Watching "Sherlock Holmes" (the RDJ version on tv -- which was amusingly mis-identified as the BBC version) -- when the big dude comes out, kidlet asked: "is he a robot?"
THAT'S MY BOY! :DD
- Short notes on Vampire Diaries: It's awesome. !!!! Katherine PWNS everyone, everywhere. Bonnie rules. Stefan is badass and smart and in so much trouble, now that he's got the cobra's attention back on him. Damon's a dick. I'd stake him if I were Elena and get him out of his own misery. He's pretty and funny, but pathetic.
CAROLINE!!! cannot wait.
- Nikita. Has potential. I've seen a few of the old show, but wasn't in love with it, so I don't really care how they compare. Strangely I am already plotting a vid. it's a very visual show. And also, needs to cross with Covert Affairs (which I am still behind on)
But really, the thing that's getting to me most about these two shows? It seems like 80% of the commentary after both shows - mostly elsewhere - has something to do about the 'chemistry' or lack thereof between various pairings.
Can we retire this overused dog of a word? People use it as if it's some sort of objective standard for analysis, when usually it's just code for "I like this pairing" or "I think they're both hot."
"chemistry": You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

CAROLINE!!! At first, I was kinda pissed about this twist but now I'm interested to see how she deals with the transition, how Bonnie deals with her part in it, and how it'll impact the Matt/Caroline dynamic.
Nikita was decent enough that I'll keep watching but it didn't blow me away. Maggie Q was an excellent choice for the lead, though.

But I don't mean it in a shippy sense.

You probably already know this, but I thought of you (since you're the only one I know from Poland *g*) when I found out yesterday. Paul Wesley of the Vampire Diaries apparently speaks Polish, because his family's from there. I knew his last name is something Polish (Wasileski? something like that) but I didn't know he's fluent. Which was a fun little tidbit to learn, and I had to share! :D

"Hi, Mom, You know the vampires you tried to kill at Founder's Day? Yeah, you missed a few, and now I'm one. Oops?"
But I want to see how baby vamps in this verse learn to deal with it. We got a bit of it with Vicki, but I'm sure this will last longer. And I'd love to see Stefan or even Katherine mentoring her. (I'm hoping she remembers what Damon did to her and wants nothing to do with him - but everyone on the show except Bonnie seems to forgive him at the drop of a hat, so it'll probably be Damon. *sigh* )
There was a enough with Nikita that was interesting for me to want to see what happens, and since the schedule's not superful yet, it'll do. heh, no, it didn't blow me away, but hell, if I waited for that... I'd never watch anything but LOST. :P

I hope they let Stefan & Katherine kinda fight it out over who gets to 'mentor' Caroline while Caroline goes after Damon and tries to give him a little payback!

I noticed that it happens more often lately then when I was a kid - children of Polish emigrants still speaking the language (or at least understanding it). I think it's due to easier travel and communication then during communist times. Back then most people in Poland didn't even have phones. Now many kids of Polish emigrants spent their vacation in Poland with their grandparents. I just read an article about Caroline Wozniacki (a Danish tennis player) who asked to be called Karolina Woźniacka in Poland because her grandma follows her matches.

mmm.. Katherine is just SO MUCH FUN. and I loved how Stefan basically didn't take any of her crap. I love Stefan anyway, but eeee! such great scenes between them.
