happy independence day, fellow Americans!

Caught some sad news today (the fact that I had to read it in my local paper rather than online shows how much I've fallen out of touch with comics).

He'd been fighting a long battle with bone cancer. He was only my age. :(

And while he was kinda known as a T&A kind of artist, I never minded the way he drew his females (I quite liked his first run on "Fathom") AND he also was one of the few artists who gave the girl contingent a lot of eye-candy as well, with a lot of shirtless and often wet guys. And in fact, he's the reason I originally got into Witchblade the comic book. Not for Sara the Underdressed, but for....

Ian Nottingham the Shirtless. Because OMG, not only did he have a dirty!bad!wrong UST with Sara, fight with two katanas, have long black hair, but he was totally Kenneth Irons' sex slave. Even while I was reading it, I remember thinking: "Guys, you DO realize what you're implying here, right?" HOT. HOT. HOT.

I preferred Silvestri's version the best, but Turner's was better than some of the ridiculousness that came into the book later.

So, for co-creating one of my most favorite Hot Boys of Comics EVER, as well as a distinctive style I could pick out across the Comic Con floor:

You will be missed, Michael Turner.

yeah, it's sad. For awhile it seemed as if Turner was beating it too - and then, no.

And Ian Nottingham is SO HOT. *fans self* (That's one reason I didn't like the series - I didn't think the dude they cast as Ian was nearly as hot as he should've been). There's not much else to recommend the series honestly, but man, I had a total fangrrrl crush on the character. He embodies, like, a zillion of my male fantasy HAWT kinks, it's ridiculous. :)

Would anyone really have been hot enough? :P
