Taking a writing break since I finally finished my norsebang draft, A Crocus in the Snow. 50K words. This is not what I wanted! Yet it kept growing and growing, and seriously it could probably easily take expansion of another 10K except NO. I have to start posting on October 15, and Marvel Bang is going to post right after that at some point and that's got at least one major section completely blank.

So let's talk tv.

Capsule comments ahoy, minor spoilers I guess for Gotham, Forever, Selfie, OAUT, SHIELD, Person of Interest

Fall tv )

- um. I feel like there was more. I watched more. I do feel a little sad that I have no eagerness for Vampire Diaries returning and no intention of watching it.

otoh, I am eager for Arrow's return, because OLICITY. <3 and just Felicity and Oliver in general, but everybody else too. shoooooow.

ooh, Hugh Laurie and Hiddleston are going to do a BBC show based on a John LeCarre novel together. THAT WILL BE EXCELLENT. can't wait! (they haven' started it yet, but ironically it might air before any of Hiddles movies probably, since Crimson Peak isn't out for another year, and High-Rise has no distributor yet, so god only knows when that'll come out.

and now I've sat on this post long enough to find out that my Marvel Bang fic, The Ice Demon and the Hydra will post on November 13. So that pretty much kicks NaNo in the ass, because no way am I going to be able to do 2K per day AND edit that thing into something resembling readability in the same two weeks.

Yay! I finally got all the words!

This is, admittedly split with 11K I wrote on "Comes the Hurricane"(because I have the attention span of a gnat on crack, and I got a really good idea for a couple scenes), but the rest of it is on my Avengers crossover Big Bang, "Holding the Light" which is not quite finished, but almost. Then it needs revision, but THEN it'll be about 40K of MCU/Person of Interest crossover goodness. ok, technically it's really only Reese - I thought there would at least be cameos from Carter and Fusco but it didn't turn out.

In other news, I totally fucked up my car today. We woke this morning to find all the windows of my car had spontaneously rolled themselves down. IN THE RAIN. It turns out that if you push the open button on the fob long enough the car does this for you. So somehow the button got pushed inside my purse which must have been just close enough to the car. *head desk* I mean, this couldn't have happened when it wasn't raining in the last two YEARS I've had this car?

I have a wee Lego!Loki keeychain -- I'm thinking he was pissed that I'm writing fic about the Avengers and not him, so he Loki'd my car. Maybe I should go back to my Aayla Secura keychain, instead...
ok, John Reese, how the HELL did you get out of Ordos? In the middle of China, in the frakking desert. Four hundred miles from Beijing or the Mongolian border. And no passport or easy access to money, since the CIA would be watching all of the ones they know about. Kindness of strangers to save his life, I'm sure, but after that? Supposedly Stanton got out through North Korea, but that seems the wrong direction to get help and avoid the authorities. Tibet maybe? Are there Mongolian dissidents who could help? Drop south to Xian and try to mix with the tourists. Get himself involved in some kind of criminal organization and depend on them to get him out of the country? Steal/hijack a plane? Get found by the League of Shadows the Hand and trained into even more of a killing machine?

Amusingly enough, the last is probably the most likely, given my crossover and how PoI has yet to find a Batman parallel they don't like, but he doesn't need to be a ninja, too.

There is nothing quite like being in the shower when lightning strikes right outside your damn window. It had that super bright flash like a bomb, crackle, and then rattled everything. And then, my thought was 'You are soaking wet and there is LIGHTNING idiot'. And I scrambled out to try to dry off - y'know, like that was going to help, if the lightning was going to smash its way inside. Luckily it appears it was close but not close enough to do damage. phew. And now I'm calm and trying to write again.

I finished Outlander, the Jim Caviezel/Sophia Myles aliens-attack-vikings movie. And y'know, I realize I'm a soft touch when it comes to this sort of thing but it was really a lot of fun. I love how it works with the movie to have Caviezel use his military-influenced fight style (plus swords! unf). He does his "awww kids" thing, too. And Sophia Myles was pretty fierce. (and also Ron Pearlman and Jack Huston, the guy who plays Richard on Boardwalk Empire was in it, too, as a sort of Eomer-looking dude, and it was bugging me until I finally IMDB'd him what I knew him from.) Anyway, it's very definitely a "B movie" but if you like Person of Interest and especially Caviezel kicking ass, it's enjoyable. I could totally fic it There is no fic at AO3. *infinite sads*

and these new cut tags are... odd looking.

eta: and if someone could prompt me something at bsg-kink (sam/kara, sam/lee, sam/somebody?) I could do with writing some short porn tonight, but I can't think of anything for myself.
There's a whole lot of killin' goin' on 'round here.

TVD: Murder of One )

(and then there was a long pause in which I had to do other stuff. So moving on.)

Person of Interest - Identity Crisis )

I've also been watching Caviezel's movie Outlander, which is like a Skiffy Saturday night movie, but with a bigger budget. It went straight to video because the premise is ridiculous, but so far it's been better than I expected. I'm only halfway through it, so it may end badly, but so far it's watchable fun.

I'm fairly sure there was a logic gap in there someplace, but I don't care, because THAT EPISODE WAS PERFECTION.

Allow me to illustrate:

(and don't look until you've seen it, if you're going to because there're some fun things I don't want to spoil anyone for, but I MUST FLAIL.)

This is a photo recap. because really. HOW COULD I NOT )

And. It appears there's no new episode next week either. BOO HISS.

Since I should do posts that aren't just whining about writing, how about last night's Batman?

I got the most adorably polite request to translate my Person of Interest fic for last Yuletide into Mandarin. Now I wish I could read even the tiniest bit of chinese to be able to look at it, because that's cool y'all.

speaking of Person of Interest --

Blue Code )

Anybody else watch it?

By which I mean Vampire Diaries and Person of Interest, not those half hour things. Because OMG they were both quite funny last night.

TVD: the one with the ball. oh wait, that doesn't narrow it down )

Person of Interest - the ONE WITH ROBIN )

*squishes her shows*
(wrote my TVD reaction thingy last night/this morning, if you want that instead)

in which we learn some new things, the expected badasses are badass, and get a valuable lesson in self defense )

Also, this is more fuel to the fire of my PofI/Term crossover fic. TOO MANY IDEAS.
Possibly only [livejournal.com profile] rose_griffes will appreciate the awesomeness of this, but last night I had this moment of realization.

John Reese -- he of the show with the semi-sentient computer...

Details! )

And, um, hi, new TVD friends! I would say I don't make up crack like this all the time, BUT THAT WOULD BE A LIE.

MY BRAIN. You're welcome.

Normally there's nothing I'd find 'cute' about MIchael Emerson, but somehow all the photos of him with his wife are just SO ADORB.

And also speaking of Emerson, about last night's Person of Interest:

in conclusion, SHOW.

I really should've just finished off NaNo today. I'm really close, but somehow it's easier to put it off when I only have a little bit left. bah. no cookie for me.

I did manage to watch/listen to the producers commentary of the pilot for Person of Interest - which was full of the usual quasi-awards ceremony acknowledgments of everyone in the crew ever, but had some interesting bits especially how JC gets more attractive when he's beaten up. yep so true. er, this is perhaps turning into a thing. Stepping back now. ahem.

Though I did laugh to hear how someone screamed on the street during a fight scene cuz the bystander thought it was real. Pity that take didn't make it in. lol

Also I watched Once Upon a Time --
The one with the cricket )

ok, no more procrastination. nope.

Special treat for Person of Interest fans: CBS will be posting a producer commentary version for the Pilot on Monday at cbs.com (as [livejournal.com profile] rose_griffes has also mentioned, before me, I see).

They've posted a clip already embed behind the cut )

But to summarize: Jonah Nolan tells the full story of how Jim Caviezel was waiting for a cue during a night shoot in Brooklyn and heard an actual crime in progress nearby. Some drunken dick was beating up his girlfriend. And Caviezel ran over and stopped it. Himself. Without even telling the crew what the hell he was doing; he just disappeared (though they could hear through the mic he was wearing). You know how I say this show is basically Batman without capes? DUDE IS BATMAN IN REAL LIFE.
First, Signups for Yuletide are open! WOOOOOO!

I suppose this means I need to actually figure out my specific requests/offers.

For tomorrow's ep, a clip of Reese being a badass! Again. Some more.

(and also it cracks me up every time I see the abbreviation PoI, because it looks like poi, which is this stuff you can eat and tastes like wallpaper paste.)

and now I am off to the kiddo's first piano 'recital'!
