Determined Spirits
A V-Castle Crossover
Pairing: Beckett/Demming
Rating: ADULT
Wordcount: 30K (this part 5K)
Continuity/Notes: AU, but before "Deadly Game" and pre-series for V. I also basically created my own V society and biology. And it is probably important to note that Michael Trucco played both Tom Demming and John May, and that inspired this whole thing.

Summary: It begins with a robbery-homicide. That's the last time anything is ordinary.

Normal ends today )

After all the ridiculous bad news in fandom lately, it feels good to have GOOD NEWS.

I finally finished the draft for the V/Castle crossover!

Determined Spirits
Final tally: 31,000 words
(subject to some change after I go through it, but it's not going to get THAT much shorter)

I might have to do some kind of banner for it (anyone with more talent?) It seems like it should be part of some Weirdo Crossover Big Bang or something. hee.

You'd think I'd be done with the crack after the crack fic yesterday, but NO!

Today we have a Very Important Poll. This obviously relates to the Castle/V Epic Crossover of Epicness I'm still writing (because I have no Big Bangs or anything else to do, nope). Lest you all get TOO excited, the Leverage part of it is not much more than an Easter Egg, but it's fun.
[Poll #1570087]
(btw, I didn't forget Maggie. She was actually my first choice -- given Meteor Storm, it seemed obvious -- but then I remembered she and Nate had a kid together. So, she doesn't work. It doesn't work that well for Nate either, but at least there's be some canon precendent).

If you have any particular reason for your choice, I'd love to hear it.

so flist? you'll still read my crossover epic even if it's now been a ... tiny bit...

a smidgeon...

jossed all to hell, right? :P

I knew the result would be the same, but the how turned out to be a bit more definitive than I had anticipated. But I have almost 20K that I'd hate to be wasted.

It was amusing watching this with hubby, who actually got SO disgusted by Castle's behavior he turned it off at about the 40 min mark. I believe his exact words were, "He's acting like a fourteen year old." Hubby couldn't care less about UST or My TV Boyfriend, so it wasn't my personal preferences coloring it either. I thought the situation was funny since it was played so broadly, but apparently hubby was, um, appalled by the lack of maturity. (MrLiz also can't understand why no one's shot Patrick Jane on the Mentalist yet, btw, so he's pretty consistent about it).

I - of course - continued to watch. Because I HAD PHOTOS AND I WANTED TO SEE HOW IT HAPPENED, DAMN IT.

(Warning of several, large-ish pics under the cut. Beckett/Demming. Oh yes. *g* )

So here are the promo photos )

And because today is apparently Trucco Picspam day, there are also lovely pics of him in "V" over at [livejournal.com profile] cujoy's place.

Speaking of Castle/V --- the epic is now a very scary 15K words. WTF BRAIN? It was a bit strange to watch last night, thinking he's secretly a V, and not actually be jossed in any way... :)
I've now learned many wacky genetics facts while trying to figure out how Visitor biology works. Yes, I know, with that show I'm putting way more thought into it than they have, but mine works with what we know from the show. It's not a system found on Earth, that's for sure. Not that it's really going to make a difference to the fic, I'm just obsessive/curious like that.

Speaking of Castle -- hee. I have no deep thoughts. Or really any thoughts about it, but it's fun. Being a Trucco fan and not particularly a show fan, even though I watch it occasionally, I just naturally ship him and got all 'awww' on his behalf when it looked like Beckett was blowing him off.) But really, to make it a credible 'ship, they kind of have to stop with other characters asking permission.

And 24 finally did what I expected them to do with Dana from hour one, so no big shock there. But her telephone sob story was fun to watch. She should've killed Cole, though.

LOST tonight!
Now, I enjoy Castle - it's a light-hearted show and while I kind of wish it wasn't so predictable, that's also not the point, so it's okay.

However, HOTASS DETECTIVE TRIANGLE FODDER definitely make it a must-see.

Our introduction: Kate Beckett is whaling away on the punching bag when this guy we don't know (if you aren't, y'know, me) comes strolling in to work out, too. Beckett pays him no attention at all. Seemingly.

Our beautiful and sexy and kickass lady detective is TOO BUSY pounding the bag to notice him. But he notices her. )

Arm!porn! eyecandy! adorableness! humor! badassery!

And did I mention the arm!porn? :D

YOU GUYS, THE BOXING SCENE IS UP!

HAHAHAHA, It really is Pyramid 2.0.

(there are other sneaks of him in the suit, and are probably about 80% of his entire screen time put together. But I liked this one the best, oddly enough. *g*)
