okay, I need a planet (for a fic, duh). Before I go looking through ep lists and trying to come up with one, I thought I'd throw it out for other people's ideas. Here's the criteria:

1. It has to be a friendly planet to Earth. Or at least some segment of it friendly enough that Jack would authorize a mission to help them if they 'call' with a plea for help.

2. Thus the planet/settlement needs to be able to contact the SGC with that plea. (i.e. throwing a Sagan box through isn't going to work - a bit more tech advanced than Land of Light or Touchstone-planet)

3. the Stargate needs to be outside, and some distance - at least a good walk - away from the nearest settlement. Something like Cimmeria, but NOT Cimmeria because the Hammer messes things up.

4. Pangar and various Jaffa planets also won't work for story reasons.

5. The planet first appears before season 8.

I'm sure there are plenty that fit this criteria, but I'm drawing a blank. And obviously I can make one up, but I'd rather use a canon one.

I can't think of any off the top of my head, but here is a list of planets that I have used more than once when trying to come up with a planet to use.

I hope it helps.

What about the one from, um... drat. The one where Jack gets a metal arrow through his shoulder? I know there were super-advanced aliens there, but I seem to recall they all ended on friendly terms, with the SGC getting some of their naquadah...

ooh, interesting. I don't think of the silly S.2 planets too much, except for the the Tok'ra eps and Message in a Bottle.

I love my new icon, even if people who don't know who it is (everyone but you, basically, since it's hard to tell it's him), are probably thinking my icon is of some NASCAR driver... :)

Also, the one from where robot!SG-1 came from? Eh. Who knows.

awww. That's ok. It's kinda like, um *points* this icon. Only 1 in 3,000 people has any idea what it means.
