bah, 2200 words on my [livejournal.com profile] apocalypse_kree fic, total. And the country's not conquered yet, to say nothing of the whole world. And what I have isn't exactly deathless prose. But I have already killed a secondary character, brainwashed another, 'disappeared' a fan favorite, and am set to arrest another, which looks tremendously exciting when I write it out like that. But it all feels very...plodding to me right now.

I think I'm going to do a Baal marathon and see if that kick starts my rather sullen and pouty muse. If that doesn't help, nothing will, and I'll have to scale back on my plan.

And then I'll have to figure out whether I'm going to use Baal or Ba'al. I know the latter is more canonical, but it makes me grit my teeth. That stupid unnecessary NEEDLESS APOSTROPHE makes for awkward looking possessives! Bad enough I have to write Teal'c's (and avoid it wherever possible), I don't want to write Ba'al's as well. It just looks so stupid and wrong to me.

Whoever thought up the idea that flinging apostrophes into names to make them look more 'alien' needs a good thwacking. Except he's probably already dead, since it's a very old SF thing, but still. Baal.

*laughs* y'know, I may have to do that. that may be the only way I can tolerate it. That or, I'll just slap a label on the top -- "Dude, I know TPTB spell it Ba'al. I spell it Baal because that makes more sense. Deal with it."

Or he finally remembers that in old testement times it was spelt Baal and goes back to that spelling ;)

*g* no, no, I got it. Baal hacks into the SGC computer system, muttering how Daniel Jackson really should know better and it must be a Tok'ra plot, and corrects all their erroneous spellings.

Dude, the last time you dared me to do something, Delek/Malek ensued! *g*

But you're lucky-- I have way too many Baals in the air (sorry) already to take you up on it.
