- that prosecutor chick is rocking so far. (I should point out that while training makes me able to see both sides, I have a professional bias for "the People", so it's not surprising at all that I think this! *g*) But she's prosecutorial -- not a grandstander like the defense gets to be.

- messiah!Baltar. "Mind how you go". *chortle*

- Caprica whacked Tigh! hee.

- Tigh could've pointed at Sam at the person who 'ordered' her death, since he basically did, but he didn't. But oh Saul, you should've shut up after you said you killed her.

- oo, civilian!Lee. Lee in a tie cracks me up. This is the 'turning against Laura' bit from the spoilers obviously. And why Dee leaves him. But since there are others who saw the death warrant attacking her credibility here isn't going to do a lot of good. If the Six on Caprica thing were going to be brought in, yes, but this? only in a very general sense. But still he had to bring it up, he's right.

- that cut to Helo when she mentioned Hera was a perfect reminder

- HELO IS XO (again)! (for this week and maybe next, but still....) Poor Helo has to look at the roster every day to see where his duty station is supposed to be.

- and the Cylons are out there, following them, and almost killed Racetrack and Skulls! YAY! (I mean, for the Cylons being all menace-y, not the 'track dying, because that would piss me off)


in sum, I like the set up for part 2.

I think I missed the part about Sam becoming a Nugget because I was discussing blood sugar meters for my cat with my mom, but I have to say of the commentaries I've read, I 100% agree with you (and some of the others I've read). :)

You know, I used to LOVE, LOVE, LOVE BSG... but lately, I feel like we need Dr. Phil to slap some sense into Lee Adama, Bill Adama and Laura Roslin. I mean, doesn't it get old?

Lee and Bill have a hissy fit. Why is Bill Adama sitting on the tribunal. conflict of interest, anyone?

Laura is having her own messiah delusions.

And I'm sorry, I have to confess this. Bill Adama/Saul Tighe are so slashy it's pathetic.

Can't wait until the 4 cyclons are revealed - though I read the spoilers. Just makes me anticipate it more. Though considering how much sex most of them were having, I'm surprised there weren't any glowing backbones seen before now. :D

So why do you think the 5 cyclons are those of which they do not speak?

I thought about the conflict of interest thing for awhile, and I don't think it is, actually. Bill wasn't on New Caprica, so he wasn't directly affected by Baltar's presidency/collaboration. There's no one in the fleet who hasn't been affected in a general way, so there's no purely neutral party. It's sort of like trying to find jurors for the OJ trial, lots of luck finding people who had never heard of the case before the trial. But you don't have to find jurors who have never heard about it before, or even don't have an opinion already, they just have to swear to weigh the evidence as presented. And I think when he accepted the role, Bill genuinely believed he could.

So to be properly legal in our system he SHOULD recuse himself for failing to maintain his impartiality. But of course he's not gonna, and given next week's spoilers I don't think it'll matter.

And yeah, Lee and Bill desperately both need family counseling. Maybe Helo should go make an appointment for them with that shrink he mentioned to Kara. I didn't find Laura problematic in this ep, though. She's having funky dreams because of the chamalla, just like she did before.

"Glowing spines." heh. boy are they sorry somebody decided that would be a fun touch...

My theory on the Five is that they're holding themselves outside of the collective because they didn't agree with the decision to attack the colonies, and then they tampered with the Seven to hide themselves and work against The Plan. There aren't many copies of them though, so they have to work rather like Tok'ra, by infiltration and sabotage rather than in open conflict.

But I don't know... Ron and Co seem to be going for something more mystical, despite my knee-jerk resistance to that.

Well, I just thought Laura Roslin was down right rude to Tori "Someone who can at least run a comb through her hair once a week"... It screams of a chew em up- spit em out philosophy of Laura Roslin. I mean, Laura is a chamalla induced Prophet who has rambled on and on (remember her in the cell and Tighe thinking it would be a good idea to show her as the rambling lunatic?)

I don't know. It's a good show because my character loyalties change as each twist and turn is revealed. Hate Starbuck at times. Lee is ruined. But Boy, Mike Hogan - Saul does a good crazy, doesn't he?

yeah, she wasn't very nice about it. But Tory had just frakked up the press conference, so she wasn't doing her job. I would've been pissed if I'd been Roslin too. (and I've witnessed bosses dressing down how employees look even more harshly, so that doesn't shock me at all. it was true, after all). So I just read that as Laura being the boss.

And Hogan is awesome. Everytime they give him something meaty to chew on, he knocks it out of the park. And he definitely does the crazy best.

I liked the ep a lot too and can't wait until next week. I *really* liked playful Sam in this episode. I think I may have to go hide in a cave to avoid spoilers this week. I'm not really a spoiler-phobe, but I think that I would have liked Rapture and Maelstrom more if I hadn't been spoiled. So, I'm taking the "don't read" approach this time around.

Yeah, I'm with you on the spoilers. I'm usually a spoiler whore, but I already know far more about next week's than I really want to, so I'm hiding from any more. next week I may not be able to be on-line at all that evening, becaues I know the temptation to click on links is going to just kill me. (I'm Pacific coast, so there's already a lot of discussion around before I get the ep.)

I'm all sad over the loss of tousled, bed-head hair for Sam. But since the producers seem to have a thing for hair-cutting to express a character getting his or her act together, I guess it's a good thing.

I just don't think the 4 of the five we are going to see, are clones like Sharon or Caprica. I think they are something different. Remember Tigh has been with Bill, for what, 40 years.

I think Bill is starting to have a drinking problem.

Help is like the go to guy, but I guess its cheaper then highering a new actor and it gives him more to do.

I don't think the Four will turn out to be Cylons at all, though we'll certainly be left with that impression at the cliffhanger. But there can't be lots of copies of them or someone would have noticed. Tigh's not the only one who's problematic -- Sam was a public figure on Caprica before the attack and presumably must have had some sort of back-history since you don't get to be an elite sports player with only a year or two of verifiable playing history. It's easier to fanwank than Tigh, but it's still dubious.

But of course, if the Final Five ARE different in some fundamental way, the rules don't apply. So... *shrug* we'll just have to wait and see, like always.

Bill is definitely unraveling. so it's a good thing that Helo's around to be steady. And he was XO before, however briefly, so it makes some sense, it's just funny. every morning Adama wakes up and throws a dart to determine Helo's duty for the day, I think. *g*

I'm really wondering WHAT year Earth is now in. Do you think it's current day? You know, they show up over the blue skies of earth, and then they get shot down? :)

That would be funny if a Viper appeared - say exactly on no-fly day after 9/11 or something and got blown up without anyone (on Earth) even noticing they were from outer space. "Welcome to Earth". hee.

I'm fairly convinced they'll follow the pattern of Old Skool and have the RTF arrive present day, but that won't happen til the end. I did wake up the other day and realize that just because it's "4000 years" since Kobol, that has absolutely no bearing on Earth years so it can be whenever.

I'm still tempted to do that SG xover in which we find out that the Lords of Kobol were really Egeria's kids and map it over onto Stargate-verse, but it's hard to figure out where in the galaxy the Colonies are that the Goa'uld never came.

Of he is the only other major character aside from Lee or Tigh thats on officer so there really isn't anybody else they can put in the job.

I like to think its beacuse Helo is the most relaible out of all of them.

i think they did the credits that way so they could shove as much into the show as they could without wasting time on the credit sequence.

No doubt you're right about the credits. That was my thought too - particularly the loss of the ususal prologue "They have a plan" sequence. That's been a waste for quite some time now, so I hope it stays gone.

Did they ever say how much time passed between this ep and the previous one? It must've been a while, since Sam's leg is all healed and he's now a nugget. I wish we could see him join the Fleet, though I think he'd be a better Marine. But he misses his Kara, so it's cool... I miss her, too.

And apparently the Adamas really can't function as a family without her. They're both so crazy now. And where did Lee get such a nice suit so fast?

I know Adama (Lamkin? someone) said that it was two weeks until the trial started, but I will generously fanwank that the trial was delayed for some reason. Maybe Tory hid some more evidence or something.

The Adamas are getting more disfunctional all the time, aren't they? And don't you know about the Wardrobe Ship? It was a cargo ship carrying sweatshop made clothing from Sagittaron for Caprica when the attacks hit. *g* (nope, I rarely let little nitpicks like that stop me)

If it's only two weeks, then Sam has super healing powers. Maybe that's a side effect of being a music-listening/loving Cylon of sorts?

Heh... your cargo ship idea is better than my thinking that Lee took the suit from Billy's old collection... y'know, maybe Dee had them on hand. After all, Lee had Billy's girlfriend... why not his clothing?
