A Sam Carter poll!

Yo, flisters, your opinion!

HYPOTHETICALLY, if I were, say, writing a fic with Sam Carter in it. And if she were going tobe pissed off at the SGC/US, and leave Earth to settle on some other planet (it wouldn't end up for long, but when she chooses it might be forever), where would she go?

My thinking is that she would want to go to a world with technology (no point living rough if you have a choice), a world where she could contribute (she needs work), and is friendly. This is set in S.8, so there's no Ori yet, only Anubis/Baal.

So far I have the possibilities of:
- Langara (Kelowna). Pro: Jonas is there and he can help. Con: the government of Kelowna. Plus, Baal has a known interest in the planet.

- Pangar (from 'Cure', where SG-1 found Egeria). Pro: their tech was near-Earth level. They'd likely be grateful for her expertise. Con: don't know all that much about their international situation. Their government seemed somewhat militant as well.

- The planet(s) from Space Race. Pro: Very advanced. Inter-species friendliness. could probably find work with one of the corporations. Con: extremely commercialized society. Might not be interested in her skills very much.

- Tagrea. (from Memento) Pro: near Earth tech level. Con: um...? Sam would likely know a lot more than we the audience about what what the planet's like, but I can't think of a con except maybe a few Heru'ur cultists.

- ??? any place else you can think of?

(eliminated from contention: Euronda, the planet from Sentinel)
ETA: also eliminated for story reasons: Atlantis, and the Tok'ra

I said Space Race planet but, really, it all depends on her intent. If she's burned out on the saving the galaxy business, she might go there where she can work and contribute but still be fairly anonymous and not have people coming to her with the ZOMG!We'reALLGONNADIE going on.

But I am *SO* partial to her running off to Langera. mostly so she and Jonas can shack up and never ever get out of bed again cause girlfriend needs it *G*

Not that I have this all planned out (and it may very well not come to pass at all)-- but she has a bad,extremely bitter break with the SGC. She wouldn't be in hiding, but unless they kidnap her, she's not going back, and they know it.

So I started thinking but then I couldn't decide. Langara at least has the advantage that I simply know more about it. (although she's bringing company, so Jonas is not gonna get some in this, sorry *g*) So I thought I'd ask if anyone else had some other reasoning, since mine wasn't helping.

Further ideas?

*nods* well then I'd say if it's a bitter break up so to speak then yeah, I'd say she'd want to avoid being 'that Sam Carter' and on the Space Race planet she can be fairly anonymous but still have friends who'll help her. It's a good place for her to both keep busy, keep a low profile, and have the advantage of someone watching her back should the SGC or someone come looking.

That's a good point about the friends there too and the anonymity. hmmm...

Of course that would require me to rewatch Space Race,which is not my, um, most favorite episode of S.8.

Well, don't get too excited. *g* I've resolved to finish Tartarus first. If I let that one languish much longer no one's gonna remember the first ones (or all the Tok'ra fans will migrate away and no one will be left to read it!).
