Written for lostinapapercup which made me laugh and laugh when I got the assignment. And then I felt bad because my two first attempts were really terrible. First I tried a Sam-tells-Kara-on-Demetrius, but Kara-on-Demetrius and all those Cylon haters on board kept dragging that into a whirlpool of misery. Then I tried a different thing, which I might still do, which was kind of a high concept thing that wouldn't come together. And time was running out for the deadline (this was, of course, after i'd frittered away an entire MONTH of extra time)

But I did have this little snippet in my random BSG crap folder which was Kara and Sam trying to get out of the detention center and it falling on them so they get stranded. And so from that tiny snippet I built everything else that followed. And since I wanted to do something different than just follow the same course the show laid out (while still ending up at Earth), I changed a bunch of things, especially the beacon and its function. Because that would've been fucking cool, y'all. And some other stuff for fun, which I don't know, is kinda spoilery? I can talk about it in comments if anyone wants.

And yes, I punted the end, for which I am sorry, but that's because I wrote more than half of it, AFTER the deadline in that period between upload and opening of the archive!



ETA: Okay that was weird, while I was trying to crosspost, I got in the mod queue for both POD and BSGfics. That has never happened before. I was signed in. And now I'm not even sure it was for them - did I select the wrong comm name? You can't check anything once it's pending... SO WEIRD.

It was HILARIOUS! And then I was afraid it happened that you got me again, too, but I saw only one fic in BSG, so I figured my writer was someone else. But I did wonder there for awhile! Luckily I'm not requesting Kara/Sam for Avengersfest so I think we're safe from each other for awhile. :)

I'm glad you liked it really. It was fun, even if I felt horribly rushed.
