Joel Goldsmith, who composed the music for all the Stargate tv series died today. So I will play my Goldsmith Family Soundtrack Playlist and be a little sad that there'll be no more. :(
Anyway, I wanted to talk about GoT. ("talk". Which means "flap hands in a fangirly way")
Ok, look, I only read the first two (three? Maybe? I know I own SoS, but I'm not sure I actually cracked it open or not, tbh) books way back when they first came out. So I don't remember very much. I am spoiled for some things that happen because I looked them up, though mostly I don't know much. But that's just to say I watch the show as a show, and I don't care about things they leave out or change or compress or whatever.
So, anyway, this is about the show--
-- RENLY. poor Brienne. Poor Loras too, I guess, though I didn't get much of feel for him, so it's not as effective to me.
- Cat and Brienne. That was awesome.
- Theon. I just want to smack him. Constantly.
- You know what occurs to me? Stannis has no heir right? He's married, but that whole thing with Melisandre was to get him "a son" because he didn't have one yet. The whole place is going to descend into lather-rinse-civil-war-repeat when he dies, even if he does manage to take the throne. Renly at least had the chance for an heir with Margaery (and he seemed practical enough to accept her children as long as she was discreet about it).
- ARYA! love her talking about her brother like that. "Anyone can be killed." (even while I know how it ends, and it's sad). I didn't want quite so much to pull her out of the tv and have her go to school and do safe things this week, but I still do. Because basically putting out a contract to kill someone - while eminently practical is still very sad. POOR BB. :(
- Which brings me to Gendry. And his uncanny resemblance to Trucco aside - THANK YOU FOR THAT GoT PEOPLE. UNF. now, I just have this desperate desire to ship him with someone. Anyone. because hotness like that deserves pairing with someone and Arya's too young.
So I was thinking Dany and Gendry! I KNOW RIGHT? JUST SO CRAZY IT MIGHT WORK. I don't know - he's a Baratheon so there are political reasons it could work, they seem like decent people, and after Stannis and the Lannisters eliminate each other, Arya can help negotiate between them, and leave the Starks in Winterfell. They could ride dragons into battle side by side and fall in love and it would be glorious.
And yes, I know how stupid it is to ship anyone in GoT. Especially since I don't even know for sure whether Gendry isn't going to get horribly dead at the end of this season or not. Feel free to reassure me - I saw something that he lives, but I'm not sure that it was true. Regardless, I'll live in my own little AU land for a while where Dany and Gendry take the Iron Throne together and live happily ever after, with Arya as their Hand and Sansa as Queen Dany's very happy Lady in Waiting and BFF, with a husband who loves her and treats her well.
ANYWAY HE WAS HOT. IS MY POINT.

My brain didn't quite make a Trucco-Gendry connection in season one, but in one episode there was a moment where Gendy grinned about something and it was a great crinkly-eyed grin that was exactly the kind Trucco does so well. And I'm not going to lie: all the photos/gifs I've seen from this season tell me I approve of scruffy!Gendry.
So I don't know, but I sure look forward to watching this season.
