Kidlet's assignment today was write a little story relating to a cartoon turkey carrying a sign.

(spelling corrected for your understanding)

Once upon a time there was a turkey who felt like he wasn't being treated right. I don't like being eaten for thanksgiving! the turkey said. So he went to the local shop with a sign: Turkeys have Rights, he screamed. I don't want to be eaten for thanksgiving!

And now people started noticing him. "look mommy there's a funny turkey protesting."

"Oh, sorry, Mr. Turkey, but we will have to eat you for thanksgiving."

And they did. The end.

And you thought MY fic was depressing...
MrLiz said we should stop letting Kidlet read Cormac McCarthy... lol.

Both D and I nearly fell out of our chair at the end. And this is the boy who gets all distressed if there's a possibility there won't be a happy ending! lolol

A turkey dinner isn't a happy ending?

Oh, wait...

With luck, he may grow up to be Richard Castle....

*snicker* indeed. it does kind of depend on the p.o.v.

And hee, bestselling novelist? sure, I'll take it. :)
