In sad news my spouse's stepdad died yesterday after some illness. Sort of expected, but not so abruptly. But he was amazing-- he earned purple hearts as a combat medic in Korea and Vietnam. I'll always remember their freezer packed with fish and how we joked we'd never starve in Hawaii as long as he could fish and we could pick papayas off the tree. Well we're gonna have to fish ourselves now, when the apocalypse comes.

Rest in peace, 'grandpa Mitsuo' as my son knew him. And may the fish be large and strong.

on the YAY side --

I have ordered amy new laptop, I can't tell you how exciting this is, after all these weeks of ever-more-deteriorating keyboard. Plus the broken hinge. It still sticks in my throat that the screen itself and the innards are fine -- but the shell was WEAK. bah. Very disappointing esp when my first Vaio was a damn tank for four years. But still NEW ONE. Won't be here for ten days or so, but at least it's on the way.

We went to the zoo today and it was hot. And the giraffes were... frisky. LOL

thanks!

LOL, at least if I have an Amy machine I'll be guaranteed a successful reboot, right? but then she might get stolen so maybe that's not such a good plan. heh

my poor little broken mini Raider... tho points out that John never got the memo that machines break down, same as people do. A few broken electronic action figures when he was young at least could've spared everyone the "machines are perfect" rhetoric...
