Okay, so I'm writing fictional apocalypses to take my mind off real ones. And listening to Bon Jovi. I don't know, it's like comfort food I guess.
Family in Hawaii and extended clan in Japan are fine, so far as anyone knows. We got a bit of the wave here, but it was so minor you'd probably not even notice unless you knew it was coming. I've heard that the only thing that's likely to ever put us in serious danger from a tsunami here is if a part of one of the Hawaiian islands shears off into the water-- it's happened in the geological past but not likely in anyone's lifetime.
I just watched a YT video of someone who took video of storm surge/water rocking in a canal, and of wildly shaking power lines overhead. and even though the person obviously made it or we wouldn't have the video I was all -- DUDE, do not stand directly underneath power lines during an earthquake. Or another video where people went STRAIGHT TO THE BIG GLASS WINDOWS and I wanted to reach into my screen and yank them back.
Anyway, my heart is with those directly affected. I was here during Northridge in '94, and I remember I refused to stop beneath overpasses for, like, months, afterward, afraid it was going to collapse on me. So I know the fear lingers longer than you might think, even if you weren't hurt or otherwise majorly impacted.

Which fictional apoco. would that be? ;>) I've actually been reading a lot of fic the last couple of days. OMG, I've missed so much! The baby will only sleep if he's lying on my chest and I've finally figured out how to balance him and the laptop at once, LOL!

haha, rugrat was totaly the same way - he'd sleep at night in the basinette/crib but he would only nap on me.
I have two apocafics - -BSG/B5 crossover and the other is Black Sails (sequel to Thread of Ariadne/Not All That We Are. The big-ass long Sam-Kara-Six triangle of Doom AU)
THERE IS PLENTY TO READ :D
