Yuletide! Considering there's 1500 people signed up so far, there are a lot of single and no offer fandoms this year. I think people have gotten both more obscure AND the new offer system is more restrictive. I'm curious to see how many go out on the pinchhit list for the first round- I suspect A LOT. I added one more offer, but still, I don't know 80% of the fandoms at all, and the ones I know of are things I haven't seen or read in 15 years. China Beach! Kills me seeing that have no offers, but it's not like I can offer it either, since I haven't seen it in forever. At least all my requests have one offer now.

Note to self- Bridget can't live in CC because the investigation would be a different department.

I find the ins and outs of Yuletide confusing, and I am trying to pay attention this season but...I am far more likely to just sit back and wait for shiny unexpected things. ;)

You don't have to pay any attention to the geek numbers game aspect-- I just find it fun. But there'll be so many shiny things , that's for sure!

I ended up adding two more offers yesterday on account of sad and lonely requests, but yeah, like you, most of the ones I'm familiar with, I haven't seen/read in 15 years and so couldn't offer to write. *sigh*

My requests are like yours - The most offers I have is 4. :( Two have only one. I guess I'll leave it and see what happens -- at least Jeremiah is a perennial yuletide fandom and Crossfire's not difficult, so it'll be snapped up on the pinch-hit-list at worst... Though I'm not entirely sure how that's going to work, since astolat said no one would get assignments until everyone had one. So I dunno if they're even going to use the pinch-hit-list in round one.

They're the backups. Every year for Yuletide there are people who don't have a match right away so the mods send the request to that list, which is a group of writers who want to take part in Yuletide but maybe want to be able to see the exact request before offering to write it, or just aren't sure they'll have time, or whatever. So the request goes to the list and someone claims it to write. Also, as writers default (and in a group over 1000 there'll be many of those who can't complete it/flake out/whatever), the request goes to the pinch hit list for someone to grab and write quickly. The idea is for everyone who writes a gift for someone will receive a gift as well.
