First of all, no matter what you thought about "Across the Sea", the newest Totally Lost, with Mark Pellegrino and Titus Welliver as the 'special guests' is just completely awesome. Both hilarious Jacob-Smokey sitcom and a good serious interview with the actors.
In six parts, over here, at EW.com .
So, we have the set up for Sunday:
Sideways:
Desmond, Kate, Hurley, Sayid, Jack, David, David's mom (Juliet), Daniel, Penny, Miles, Sawyer (who doesn't want to go, but clearly will get there somehow), Charlotte, Widmore and Eloise, Charlie?, and Pierre Chang will be at the concert. I think I got everyone?
The only ones unaccounted for at the concert: Locke, Ben, Jin and Sun, and Claire. Sun is still in the hospital. And Locke could easily be there now that he's said yes to Jack's treatment. Claire could go to the concert maybe, since Jack's going.
And it was fun seeing Ana-Lucia and Danielle again. SO WRONG to ship Ben and Danielle a little, but ... awwwwww.
So the question of the hour: what the hell is Desmond going to do to wake all these people up to remember their alterna-selves? Is it just going to be Daniel's music? Is Desmond going to set off a bomb? It's gotta be some reason he's trying to pull them together.
But Desmond's smirk when he saw Sayid--- PRICELESS. "I love it when a plan comes together" indeed.
On Island:
Ben is working Smokey (I think), playing for time, trying to figure out what's going on and if there's a way to stop him. Smokey wants Ben to kill the other candidates and destroy the Island.
Widmore is dead. Probably.
Richard is not. I hope.
Desmond, Miles, and Claire are at large.
Jack has volunteered to be the new Island Protector. But Jacob's "as long as you can" was a bit ominous, so there's something else coming there. Either Jack doesn't last long, or the job doesn't last long.
Sawyer and Kate have now also seen and talked to Jacob and learned a little bit more about what the Island is.
Jacob: I picked you cuz you were all losers.
Losties: NO WAI
Jacob: Think about it.
Losties: oh. yeah. good point.
Jacob is now gone, or nearly so. *sigh*
So -- is Desmond working to erase the Sideways Reality? Or just change it? and if he's merrily trying to restore the timeline to the other one, or just destroy that one, then is that going to collide with MIB's plan to destroy it. Unless, of course, now that Desmond is all zen, maybe that's exactly what he's trying to do -- let the Island sink, trapping the Light and Smokey inside it so it doesn't need a Protector anymore since it's GONE. And meanwhile everyone in the Sideways will now be 'awake' and 'themselves' again, having learned from their Island experience but still alive.
And, damn, I really hope Pellegrino is on something else I watch next year. It's been really fun having him on two shows this season.
Dear Julie Plec - he would be an awesome supernatural creature on Vampire Diaries. Master vampire. Werewolf pack leader. Vampire slayer. Alaric's brother. SOMETHING. Please don't let him fall back into boring roles as 'the heavy'. He can do so much more. Plus, he appears to be a fun, cool guy.
I AM GOING TO MISS THIS SHOW Y'ALL. SO HARD.
For all that they stumble, I still can't imagine any show TRYING half the things they've done. Really, no matter what the finale brings, it'll still be an impressive achievement.

Because ultimately I think Jack (and the other losties) are proving Jacob right - that humans are not innately corruptible. Which means that at least some people must refuse to be corrupted, or like Sayid, come back from it to do something heroic.
IN a way, I think it kind of hinges on James. Jack's always been heroic, at least in intent. So him stepping up to do take up the burden is expected. And I'm pretty sure Jacob always figured Jack would be his back-pocket fail-safe. So I figure he's going to have to do something not selfish (and not reckless, James!). And THEN, he'll get to meet Juliet again.
And then PLEASE DARLTON, we will see their Other Lives cascade through their brains and they'll fall into each other and... Or at least coffee.

I'm almost afraid now that my expectations for their reunion are too high. Now that we've seen other people 'wake up' in the sideways!verse, I'm assuming that will happen with these two and they'll remember each other and it'll be epic and beautiful and...if it's JUST coffee, I may be disappointed:(

oh yes, the coffee is sort of my way to manage my own expectations. After all,Juliet didn't say, "We can go have hot monkey sex at my place." Unfortunately. *g* So I don't really think it'll be super epic. But heck after all this WAITING, I think it's about time we get to see her at all!
