Ever since I read the ep description, I figured this would be a riot. I mean really, on the eve of an actual Supernatural con, they show an episode about a con? Is this a great show or WHAT?
Some of fandom despises Becky, I think she's awesome. If you don't see a little of yourself in Becky and find it funny -- then, you, missy, are taking yourself WAY TOO FUCKING SERIOUSLY. Because Becky is us. Does she feel up the boys? I haven't, but I've behaved in a rather inappropriate fanslutty fashion and god knows, I've seen other people do far more cringe-worthy things. Do people ask completely stupid questions at cons? Do people NOT ask stupid questions at cons? Do people dress up and LARP? *looks in closet at C-Bucs and TOk'ra cosplay costume* WHY YES, WE DO. (and also I think that sounds like a really cool LARP.)
Did two of the LARP-ers actually SAVE THE DAY? Why yes, they did. (and were they named after Demian and Barnes at TWOP? YES. *dies* I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE WHAT DEMIAN SAYS ABOUT HIS DOPPELGANGER).
Also, look, did they go the easy route and stock the "audience" with who would really be there? If they'd REALLY wanted to be mean, what would they have put in the audience? WHO WE ARE. Does Kripke know that SPN cons are 85% female? of course he does (that's what Becky's about, after all). But just imagine the bitching if the audience had been nothing but Beckys... So I actually think the audience was deliberate, to step it back from being "personal". (and also, if it'd been meant maliciously - the ghosts could've carved up that entire audience)
So I read it as affectionate with a side of "YOU ARE SO CRAZY". But I really thought the speech at the end about how Dean's lucky and really the "real world" is pretty damn sucky and fandom was their escape, basically-- I took that as understanding how it really is for most in Fandom.
But the silly Con stuff faded pretty quickly over all, and we got a nice brotherly team hunt that was, yes, light on the Apocalypse, but it's not like we weren't warned about the Walmart apocalypse...
then, at the end: bonus pseudo-canon Wincest! ROTFLMAO. (notice how they met online?)
Becky/Chuck! becky's big break up speech.... and how Sam gets let down easy. hee. And Aw, Crowley. They're just not even TRYING to hide the Good Omens references anymore, are they? (and okay, I know the name is older than that, but c'mon)
I did, however, miss Castiel. :(
And in other news, Van Pelt and Rigsby are really starting to get to me on Mentalist.
Self, we do not 'ship on procedurals. but they're so cute!

I've seen a fair amount of criticism, but I liked it. Then again, I do tend to enjoy the goofy ones :)

I get being impatient for the Apocalypse to start already, but the rest of the complaints seemed kind of like people were just READY to be pissed off at how fandom was going to appear in it. ah well, I'm sure the arc ep will be better received.
Well, unless somebody dies, in which case I'm sure we'll be hearing about that, too.
