someone else's vacation

Short Person's off from his school for a few days because it's parent-teacher conference time. We had our conference yesterday and naturally his "report card" was great. Because I have the cutest, most adorable kid in the entire world! :D

He doesn't listen to his teachers, but since he doesn't listen to us either, it's not a big shock.

So anyway, having him underfoot always keeps me busy!

I have cheerful tabs open right now, like "Effects of nuclear weapons tests". Yay for apocafic research! But boo for tired brains which aren't being very good at remembering even basic physics.

However, Anders and Helo fans concerned about their swimmers will be glad to learn that radiation caused sterility is generally recoverable. Neither of them was exposed to very high initial doses, so they likely don't have chromosomal mutations either. (and yes, obviously we know Helo was fertile, but he was on Caprica quite awhile after Hera was conceived.)

So, maybe Anders could have an adorable legacy before he totally does the noble sacrifice thing after all, with no Cylon SuperSperm required...

ok, and I've had this entry open for, like, two hours. I give up!

rumormongering R Us

O NOES, I hope this isn't true, but hubby passed on the rumor that Christopher Nolan might not direct the third Batman after all. But I LIKE my overplotted Batman! And while Goyer's part of the writing team, I don't think he has nearly the visual style (or, let's be truthful - the utter INSANITY to insist on things like the Semi Truck stunt be done for reals, rather than miniatures) to take it over, though he'd be the most obvious alternative.

yeah, and with my luck they'll hire Ratner to kill ANOTHER of my favorite movie franchises. *hiss*

Oh, speaking of directors who make me afraid... Have I mentioned how much I fear T4? I will watch it because it's Terminator and Christian Bale can pretty much do no wrong, but. *gnaws nails* Maybe McG's grown up a bit and can stop with the Stupid Camera Tricks now, because I'd much rather my End of the World be gritty and tough, than filled with bullet time...
