The Really Painfully True Story of How I watched the Lost finale on the lowest definition screen you can possible imagine...

So, we've been having these cable box issues the last few days, where inexplicably some of our lower tier channels, including abc, wouldn't get a signal. But we could reboot the box and they'd come back. As long as we didn't change the channel or turn the box off, no biggie.

And, of course, no signal right before the Lost finale, so I rebooted the box and we got the picture and all was hunky dory.

For about ten minutes. Then there were a whole bunch of dropouts and the picture went black.

Hubby and I looked at each other and I might have said some bad words.

So I rebooted the box AGAIN. it takes a few minutes each time, so we wait.

No signal.

Well, fuck. Rebooting didn't work. We tried again. Nothing. So we futzed around with the t.v. trying to get a picture off the antenna. Except there's no antenna hooked up to the t.v. dumb ass, that's not going to work.

Hubby goes off to find the earthquake kit and the emergency tv in it.

I plug the cable box in again to reboot it. PICTURE IS BACK! \o/

Twenty minutes later, picture goes dead. AGAIN.

This time we turn on the emergency t.v. my PHONE has a bigger frakkin screen. My phone is also COLOR, and this is black and white. Off an antenna. VERY LOW DEF. Beyond suckitude.

This continued the rest of the show. During commercials we reboot the cable box, get the picture eventually, watch for a little while, lose the picture again and turn to our trust portable etc. This kept happening all the way to the end of the second hour. I mean, thank God, we HAD the little t.v. or it would've sucked even more, but man. That's one horrid screen. How people watch movies on their ipods or PSP's I got no clue, because that was rough going. Squinty-vision for realz. "Who is that? Is that Jack?" At least the sound was okay, so we got all the dialogue.

FEBRUARY! GAH.

WHY DO THE NETWORKS HAVE TO TORTURE US?

yeah, it's a conspiracy! Keeping us away from our genre t.v.!

Heh, I love that icon. Jennifer Connelly is so YOUNG.
