I'm up to the LDYB portion of my AU, and I have a few comments.

Why was Gunny Mathias not on Caprica in LDYB? boo. She'd be very handy right now.

The wiki seems to think Cavil was put there by the Cylons when they withdrew. But I think he had to have already infiltrated the resistance or everyone was way too calm about a stranger suddenly standing up. Which is how I'm writing him. I think it'll all fit together, maybe even work out a bit better. *crosses fingers*

I love how Leoben confirms that Sam was famous back in the day as a pyramid player. Which, we kind of already knew from Adama -- Adama doesn't just say he's a fan of the Panthers; he recognizes Sam and calls him a 'hell of a player.' *fangirl squeal* -- but it's nice to have confirmation.

But on a meta level, I like it even more, because it means the writers haven't forgotten that they need to account for Sam's pre-attacks career, with presumably a long track record of playing, when reconciling that with his Cylon-ness. While many people are concerned about Tigh's age and such, I was worried that the writers would classify Sam with Tory as not really having much of a backstory to worry about, and that's not true. So phew!

And he was born on Picon! or thinks he was. I'm so glad we're getting some of these tidbits about his history, even if some of it turns out to be false.

Interesting thing from the podcasts about how there was a bit about the Aurora figurine that got cut out. hmm. That starts to take Kara=Aurora off the table then. Not entirely since it was in Maelstrom, but... it's definitely sliding down a few notches in my Theory of Everything.

I'm sorry to lose the bit about Bill in Kara's Viper though. One of the promo shots from the newsletter had a pic and I was all excited. I want to see him flying before the end (and it sounds like Ron does too- so I have hope!)

Maybe she was and we just didn't see her. Or they recast the role. It could happen! ;)

Ron made of point of saying on the podcast that Cavil had been there for a while. He was afraid that didn't come across and people looked to startled to see him, but he'd infiltrated - that's probably how the Centurians ambushed them.

Really? I heard that and I thought the opposite - why keep bringing it up if it's not going to be important?

Thankfully! Sure, it pales in comparison to Tigh, but still important.

I guess Adama in the Viper must have been filmed, at least. Hopefully they'll be nice to us with the deleted scenes this time.

re: Aurora. Yeah, why mention it at all? But, if it's going to be important later (especially in more than a symbolic way) wouldn't you keep it in? I mean, this season so far is pretty much nothing but metaphorical guns going up on the walls. If Kara really IS Aurora, then I'd think they would want to remind people and set that up to pull the trigger later. Although, OTOH, it's certainly possible that Ron thought it was too heavy-handed or obvious, so it got snipped (though that doesn't really seem to be a big problem of his most of the time... )

The interesting thing about Anders and Tigh (disregarding the Final Five Download into existing bodies theory) is that they sort of imply at least two different waves: Tigh's history is about thirty years when he met Bill and we verify his existence, and Sam's is at least ten, I figure, since he's not young. They couldn't have come at the same time.

Unless. I'm wondering if Sam was a (Cylon) baby actually and everything he remembers about Picon etc is real. Because if he came as a baby, that'd be about the same time Tigh was planted. and Tory and Galen are about that age too.

Yeah, if they age, which we know they do, I don't see why they can't have grown up from infants. Tigh as well. Because they don't have to have all emerged at the same time, do they? Of course, who knows how to read Leoben's line about "what their eyes must have seen, witnessed over time." Reincarnation?
