Am back. Am possibly dead. But we had a good time.
Thursday was actually not too bad - we did a lot - but it wasn't all that crowded, relatively speaking. Thank you WHOEVER for making "It's a Small World" be closed for refurbishment (though I gotta say, being up on the train and looking down into Small World when when it's all ripped up and the canals are dry and full of crap, is somewhat surreal).
Friday was a whole 'nother animal. Hot (high was 91, at some point during the day) and crowded, and the crowds made it seem even hotter, even while the heat made the park seem more crowded. Gah. rugrat had a meltdown on the carousel, of all things, and it took a little while to get him to go on anything else afterward. Jungle Cruise remains cheesy, and I really pity the guides. I wonder if any of 'em go postal eventually and Disney just hushes it up.
We did see a whole lot of characters this time, a lot more than we did two years ago: Mickey and all Mickey's gang, Lilo and Stitch, Woody and Jessie, Alice and Mad Hatter, Pocahontas and the raccoon, Cinderella's fairy godmother, Pooh, Eeyore, and Tigger. And let me tell you, with the exception of Autopia (a four-year-old boy's dream ride!), being around Pooh and friends was the clear winner of the trip.
It's fun, but man, is it exhausting.
For my Pirates fangirl side, I bought a necklace which is the key to the Captain of the Flying Dutchman's chest in DMC/AWE. I like wearable things that are fannish and yet subtle - nobody who isn't a fan of the films is going to know what it is so it's just an old key on a leather cord. I would've bought a replica of Tia Dalma's necklace but they only had cheap trinket versions.
And I'm drinking out of a grog mug.
I watched BSG and ... damn. They are all so fucked up, aren't they? wow. Wish I had more wherewithal to pick at it a bit, because I feel like there's so much there going on and I want to untangle it and speculate like mad on it.
Next week. Holy frak. I'm going to love it or it's going to kill me, or maybe both at the same time.

THe funny thing was, as much of a PotC fan as I am, I didn't actually do the ride this trip. too much to do for the little guy.
