Going on vacation tomorrow! Yay! (well, it's MY vacation, husband has a conference)

It looks like it might be raining the whole time. :(

I don't know if I'll have net access, but I'm certainly bringing Morwen and hope to get some writing done. Though I despair at the thought of Short Person taking a nap in a new place - that NEVER happens. Rarely at all, in general these days, and even less so if we're in a new place. But my clever plan is to pack his Razor scooter and wear him out riding that around. *looks upward* PLEEEEZE...

OH.

Question for people who read on handhelds? Does it matter to you what format the fic is in? (i.e. doc, pdf, other) I think I want to put the fic novel in one pdf file, but I don't know if that works for people on those little reader things... *iz ignorant*

don't own a hand held but speaking as one who does read, my comp can't handle pdf. Yes its got the new version of adobe etc but i open a pdf and IE crashes and then sometimes i get the blue screen of death :( So doc works best for me.

Word works better on a handheld. A PDF is a essentially saved as picture file, so it shows the entire width of the page on the small screen, making the text very tiny. You can zoom in, but then you have to scroll across for every line. Word automatically adjusts the length for the smaller screen.

Tels, if Adobe is crashing when you open in in IE, try saving the PDF file to your desktop instead. Then open it in Adobe reader, instead of having IE try to launch Adobe. Sometimes the link between the two gets messed up and causes that kind of problem. Its worth a try.

Thank you :) That worked. Pastor uploads his sermons notes each week to the chruch website as a pdf and i never used to be able to read them. Now i can - yay.

ah yes, that makes sense. endless scrolling would be really tedious. I was thinking pdf would be a more universal format, but that's certainly a big disadvantage. thanks.
