So, I barely get over the fandomania fog of Harry Potter and HBP (though, okay, I'm still reading some of the essays and HP4GU lists), and along comes Book 11 of the Wheel of Time series, "Knife of Dreams." All 700+ pages of it. And yes, I did have amazon ship it to me the day it came out, cuz I'm a WoT geek. I've been since day one, when a guy I had a crush on was reading 'Eye of the World' in class. That was when it first came out, btw. I went to one of the first SoCal DarkFriend Socials, almost ten years ago! (gulp!) I've already scanned the book once (staying up til 2 a.m. to do that much), and it's a much better book than the previous one in the series, so I'm now going back through and reading in more detail. Finally *finally* some of the prophecies that have been hanging over the books have started to happen again. It's been three or four I think since there was much movement on that front. There's progress. There's supposedly only one book left -- and I'm sure that's going to go the way of Martin's "Feast of Crows" which turned out to be so frelling humongous it had to be split in two (and, oh good grief, that one comes out soon too, and I've totally forgotten anything happened in the previous ones). I only came on-line to see what fandom as a whole thinks of it.
Have I written anything? No. Is my brain totally fried? yep. Total fantasy overload. I haven't read so much since the baby was born...

Yes, you do have some catching up to do. :) But I'd strongly advise you spoil yourself as little as possible for the future novels. part of the great fun of WoT is trying to figure out all the pieces and prophecies and characters in disguise. But I can imagine it's quite intimidating looking at this massive series -- though on the good side, at least you haven't suffered through so many years of cliffhangers!
So, I didn't slip that past you about the sequel, did I? :) Well, there's a different fic coming first, but not for a little while, since it's so frelling long. But at least I started Road to Tartarus and I know what I want to do for it.
