More Final Cylon spec, this time looking at the MODEL NUMBERS...

And yes, this is an even MORE useless exercise in pure speculation than rambling about how Zarek is the Final Cylon ZOMG!. *g*

Assuming that the model numbers have some sort of PATTERN (there's some comment of RDM's I saw lately to that effect...), then that should give us a clue to the Final Cylon. This also presumes that the Five aren't cylons of a previous generation/reborn lords of kobol/whatever, and are five of the twelve models with model numbers, however special/different they may be.

First, the model numbers we know:
THREE
FIVE (Doral)
SIX
EIGHT

Cylons who have no number: Leoben, Cavil, Simon, Tory, Anders, Tigh, and Tyrol. (ASIDE: It's BIZARRE to include them like this, rather than separated out.)

It's immediately obvious that the Final Five can't be all together - the Eights mess that up (and boy, does Ron wish he'd called her Seven, I bet). The most obvious solution is to put the Dylan Four in as 9-12 and leave Final for Number One.

Maybe.

One of the things that jumps out at me in the list is how much older Tigh and Cavil are/look compared to the rest. Then D'Anna and Leoben are a little younger, better looking - and then... well, eventually we get to the young hot things. *g*

We also have the longest history for Tigh in the Fleet, some twenty-odd years. (But not back to the first war, people - have we finally crushed that bit of fanon yet? Adama can only verify Saul's existence personally to when they first met, well after the war.) So he could have been created early.

And yes, I presume Cavil is Two. He could be One as well, and that wouldn't change much of the guesses.

So let's see what happens if we assume Tigh is One:

Tigh
Cavil
Three
Leoben
Five/Doral
Six
Simon
Eight/Sharon
Tyrol
Tory
Anders
?

Sorting it that way, there's another pattern: m/m/f - m/m/f - m/f - m/f - m/?
So ta-da! the answer is obvious when I make it come out this way.

Cylon Number 12 is Dee. There is no woman younger and hotter than Dee in the main cast.

However, there are two other very good candidates, of the more mature variety. Let's see what happens when I put them in, and see if I can make a pattern:

Cavil
Tigh
D'Anna
Zarek
Doral
Six
Leoben
Sharon
Simon
Anders
Tyrol
Tory

In this one, D'Anna breaks the pattern, because it's hard to put three mature guys into only two slots; one of them has to go after her. So that doesn't work as nicely.

And one more:

Roslin
Cavil
D'Anna
Tigh
Doral
Six
Leoben
Sharon
Tyrol
Tory
Anders
Simon

Hm, none of the arrangements I could think of really fell into a nice pattern for her either.

There's also the beginning of a vague name pattern. Of course, these are only because these are the identities that some of them were given/assigned, so it's possibly completely meaningless. However, since I've never let that stop me before, note how some of the Cylons can be paired:

Tyrol -- Tory
D'Anna -- Anders
Simon -- Sharon
Leoben - Laura
Cavil - Saul?
Six - Doral (?/ - really, without having a 'common' name for Six - hers can be anybody)

Which results in:

Cavil
Saul
D'anna
Anders
Doral
Six
Simon
Sharon
Tyrol
Tory
Leoben
Laura

Which scatters the Final Five through the Twelve, and if true, would suggest the division between them has more to do with politics/belief than any intrinsic difference physically. I don't think that's really supported by canon, but check this out:

Using Dee (Dualla) the list could go this way:
Cavil
Conoy (Leoben)
D'Anna
Dualla
Doral
Six
Simon
Sharon
Samuel Anders
Saul Tigh
Tory
Tyrol

Which proves nothing (except that RDM and Co really like "S" names), but it's kind of fun how it fell out that way.

Bored at lunchtime? What? *g*

if he picked it himself, there's no pattern. That sucks.

I don't want them to be random, damn it. *pout*

Random numbering would seem to mean they're all the same - and not divided by anything physical. It would mean that the division came from some kind of choice. And I kind of like that.

which amusingly enough is almost work for word exactly what I had below the name pairing section above. And I then took out, because it doesn't fit in with the spoilers of how the Final Five are different.

Something which Aaron told us as well, and RDM mentioned way back in the post Crossroads pod cast, so. hmpf. I LIKE the idea of a more philosophical/belief break, but if there are actual physical differences then scattering the five among the others isn't very logical.

Who said it was going to make sense?

I've never quite bought into the idea that the Five could be that different then the Seven. They may not be able to resurrect because they're not "wired in" to the Seven's resurrection infrastructure. But that doesn't mean they *couldn't* be wired in. And I don't doubt that there are very limited copies. Maybe only the five themselves, and who/whatever is hanging out in the metaphysical opera house.

But my question is about the origin of all 12 of them. Because if the numbers are inter-mixed, then that suggests a common origin. And since the Five seem to have a connection to that ancient temple - perhaps they are all of ancient origin, and the robotic Cylons somehow got a hold of seven of them?

But, that's just my lame spec. ;)

It would be nice for it to make sense, wouldn't it? All I ask is a clever retcon that doesn't leave TOO many gaps...

I think the Cylons are purposefully echoing the events of long ago. Especially if they ARE all 12 models built at the same time (IOW the Five aren't lingering lords of Kobol or remnants of the THirteenth Tribe AI or what-have-you). Makes me wonder if the Cylon Creator wants the 12 Humlons to usurp/become the (new) Lords of Kobol. Maybe that was THE PLAN in the beginning...
