We're watching "Wraiths of Roanoke" on Skiffy and the Highlander fan in me is depressed that this is a better movie than "Highlander: the Source". It's not a great film by any means, but at least it's watchable (and it doesn't have crappy music videos sprinkled in, which makes it a thousand times better right there). Why couldn't the Source have been at least this adequate? *sad face*
So, casting news on the new Star Trek film...
On the one hand, SQUEE! Eric Bana, Simon Pegg, and John Cho. YAY!
On the other...
*frowny face*
All three have done drama, sure, but a lot of comedy too. umm, JJ, what are you thinking, dude? If you're thinking parody, don't go there - Galaxy Quest already mined the comedy gold out of it.
It's fans like me who bowed out of the franchise in Year 2 of Voyager you want back, Paramount, and a campy movie isn't going to bring me back.
We're going to the new(ish) Blade Runner: Final Cut this weekend!
BIG SCREEN, baby! WOOT!
Now if only we can fit in Nightmare Before Christmas in 3D at some point, I'll be a happy fan girl.
Atlantis: Reunion
Sam and Teal'c. That was such a great scene. And it's just awesome to see colonel eagles on sam's uniform I gotta say (though I do wonder whether Captain to Colonel in eight years is even do-able, but saving the world a few times undubitably moves you upward on the list...)
Thank God for IMDB. I couldn't figure out what I knew Mark Decansos from, and it was bugging the crap out of me when he first appeared. I hate not knowing.
And ewww, Wraith worshippers. Poor Ronon. It wasn't that they were just bad friends, not just that they betrayed him and his new friends, no, they were the brainwashed toadies of the people who destroyed their own planet. That would be horrible to find out. And he's had really bad luck with Satedan survivors, hasn't he, poor guy. Let Teyla make it all better, Ronon.
Or Sam. Because that confrontation was amazingly HOT. SEE! Didn't I TELL YOU? HOT!
John snurched Rodney's fruit basket. heh.
I thought it was a nice touch in the Hive Ship that Sam let Radek carry the tricorder thingy. That would've been her job on SG-1, and she's doing (and more to the point, the writers) are doing the right thing by having her not do that.
Nothing really meaty to say, except that Sam's bringing me back to Atlantis and I'm enjoying it, so... she's doing what Skiffy hoped she would, I guess. I'm sorry we had to lose Weir to gain Sam (and personally I'm convinced there's more to that changeover than we know, and I have my theory) but... at least we still have Sam!
I'm witholding Empire of Ivory from myself until I finish my
reel_sg1 fic. The book is still in the bookstore.
Of course staying up til all hours isn't helping either.
