because I am obsessed, a few more observations on [livejournal.com profile] yuletide...

- I don't understand the impulse to want fanfic for novels that people read in high school. Me? I didn't HATE Hemingway or Conrad, but after we were done with the books, I never ever wanted to look at them again. It took being stranded in a foreign country with only Northanger Abbey in English to get me to pick up Austen again, and I still haven't touched anything else I did in American Lit, because I was that sick of it (mind you, high school lit classes were YEARS ago). And people want to write FANFIC????

- RPF is taking over the world.

- I wonder whether there will be more or fewer fics for L'Engle-verse and Wheel of Time this year, because the authors passed away?

- Solely because I rewatched it yesterday, I nominated Marnie, the Hitchcock film. I may change my mind, but damn, the AFTER story is just begging to be told of that.

- Some people have strange ideas of what constitutes a rare, obscure fandom. Like, for instance, High School Musical...

Does High School Musical fic involve... music? Like do the writers come up with song lyrics of their own?

lol! I hope not!

All I know is that the stupid thing has 7000 fics at the Pit of Voles (twice what BSG has, btw), and there is no frakkin way on Earth it's a "rare or obscure or dead" fandom.

7000?!?? That's INSANE.

It kind of makes my stomach hurt, thinking about all the poor grammar and spelling that must be in the HSM fics.

And what would the stories even be about?!?

Gah. My mind needs to stop.
