I really love the Cylon consensus idea in BSG and the way it's implemented. I think any instance of a model can be used, until it is officially 'cast out' by the remaining models or chooses to leave.
For example, I don't think Caprica-Six or Sharon Agathon will be allowed to participate in a consensus anymore, since they have chosen to leave. D'Anna was removed by boxing.
I also think it depends upon how much a cylon individual decides to be 'wired in', since that process seems to enable uniformity within a model.
