Stop talking, fictional people!

After I finished that NPT ficathon story in a panic stricken haze, I went back to some WIPS, and so I've been working on Understanding the Storm 3. And now suddenly Odin and Frigga are hashing out about how they are really kind of terrible parents (think about it - Loki aside, it takes Odin A THOUSAND YEARS to figure out that Thor's a bit reckless). But this also makes Thor upset that Mommy and Daddy are fighting and it's adorable. He's such a puppy sometimes.

I was trying to finish you off, story, and this is making it worse! But once the elephant's in the room, wise people deal with it and they are supposed to be wise people. So, the end result is... *makes hand motion of someone blabbing on and on*

This may be the longest story I've ever written where there's no action or romance element to move the plot along. There's no guns, no sex. Lots of words, lots of talking - I'm sure I'll have to tighten it up at the end so it's not puppet theater, but I just hope I can do it well enough that readers can tell there is a direction/plot to it all, even if it is just four people talking and trying to deal with their crap. Well, mostly Loki's crap, but theirs too. It builds up when you're immortal!

But I do have to get it done given that (a) I have another story after that, and (b) the whole series is gonna get jossed to hell by Thor 2.

I am in EXTREME APPROVAL of Odin and Frigga realizing they are horrible parents! Because it's kind of true!

I would love to read a story about Loki from his adoptive parents' POV. I have a certain fondness for Frigga because she is too kind and lenient but yet a loving parent. Odin, on the other hand, is a manipulative bastard, in my opinion. I don't think he loved Loki like his own flesh and blood - he only cared about the glory of Asgard and asserting power over Jotunnheim via Loki, his would-be puppet king. If Odin had better parenting skills, Loki wouldn't have gone ape-shit crazy and blown Puente Antiguo and NYC to hell.

I am really excited about Thor 2 but at the same time, I am apprehensive about what the writers have in store for Loki. I have this dreaded feeling that I will be disappointed by the lack of character development for him because the sequel is going to focus on Earth and Jane (boring!) and a different villain.
