So poor Em B. She used to write fine B5 stories, back in the day. She moved on into other fandoms, and I haven't heard anything about her in years and years. And lo and behold:
her unfinished, MPREG, Harry Potter/CSI crossover (need I also confirm that this is crack!fic?) was on the long-list (not a nomination, just a recommended list) for the Tiptree Award, which is given for sf/f stories that explore gender. Which I suppose it does.
But, hello, crack!fic. And crack!fic that looks like it was put together either in the space of an afternoon or as deliberate parody, no less.
Bad enough that someone on the jury put it on the list. But worse, now a ton of people are hearing about this and reading this piece and, OMG, trashing the piece and her for producing such drivel. When she never intended any of this.
Well, I suppose there's a lesson here about not posting things to the internet that would make you squirm if they found their way to a wider audience.
But still...
