The family went to see Disney's Earth. It is, in fact, mostly the Planet Earth t.v. series just re-cut with some unused footage thrown in. So yes, it's all gorgeous.

Yes, life is brutal and short in the wild, but jeez louise.

There's this (really amazing) scene of an entire pride (30 lions strong) attacking AN ELEPHANT. IN THE DARK.

Yeah, kidlet was NOT happy about that.

Plus one of the baby elephants got separated from the herd and went wandering off alone in the Kalahari to its doom.

And then the polar bear dropped dead.

Did we really need all that?

Edit

Woot! 5.0 4.7 earthquake about five miles from my house. Rock and roll!

That's a whole lot of violence and angst for kids' film.

Those nature films.

So you got some real-life Earth action. Ha, ha.

What gets me is that they didn't HAVE to show the baby elephant or the polar bear parts especially, since those two weren't the elephants and the polar bears the story was following. So they were just thrown in there for extra angst. grr.

lol. Yeah, though I thought about it more when we were watching a program on the Rift Valley. "Oh, look, there's Hera right over there!"

Question. Do you not get notification of replies to older posts after a while?

I do. But I only reply if I have something to say in response. And I don't always. *shrug*
