I tried to make the almost-kiss into an icon but I couldn't get Martouf's face bright enough without fiddling with layers and things that take me a lot of time. It was easier to shove him over to get them into frame together for this one.
I wonder for Caldwell how long he's been a Goa'ulded too. My assumption was that it had happened right before he'd first copied the code and brought it back to Earth. But you're right, it could've been much longer ago than that. I'm rather dubious that watching, say, The Hive, would be fruitful to look for clues tho, since I frankly have very little faith that this whole thing was planned before the producers were breaking this particular story. It would be interesting to know whether they told Pileggi ahead of time, though.
It was a taser gun that Shep used on Caldwell. I'm skeptical that it would work so well on a Goa'uld, since even humans who are large enough or pumped on enough meth or something can resist it for a little while. But at least it was a different way to deal with the problem and it certainly wouldn't harm the host.
