fire update
Thanks for the good wishes. Except for smoke, I'll be safe until the entire city burns down. But the news just keeps getting better. And better, all frakkin' day long, culminating with the news that my sister-in-law's house was SO ClOSE to a fire that the plastic fittings on their rain gutters MELTED.

Fortunately they are all well and the fire has moved away from them, but that's a bit too close for comfort.

In Happy things:

Wired has a good look at manga in Japan and particularly dojinshi (how the article spells it, but I've seen it doujinshi also), and the industry over there basically taking the same fanservice attitude that media does here for fanfic. I did find myself quite often going "Dude, have you ever heard of fanfiction? Same. Damn. Thing." But interesting, in a Manga-Biznez-for-Dummies sort of way, which I am.

And Heroes still rocks. That's all I got.

I'm so glad things are okay for you. I've been worried. You and my sister, who is currently packed and waiting for the evacuation order. :(

yeah, things suck all 'round down here. But at least I'm not in the path of any fires. The good thing about living in the middle of the city is that wildfires are not a danger.

I hope your sister doesn't get the order to leave, and if she does, everything will be okay.
