Surprise b-day party of little surprise

ah, oops. My spouse and mother have managed to completely blow my surprise party for my birthday. I kind of suspected there was something afoot, but now they've confessed three weeks in advance! It's not even close, c'mon! But I am impressed the spouse did contact my pals behind my back and none of them blew it to me, though.

Not that I need some kind of party for Significant Birthdays of Encroaching Middle Age. I mean, really, we could just pretend it doesn't exist. But, no.

However, on the plus side, my 30th birthday extravaganza featured a GOLDEN EGYPTIAN PYRAMID for a cake. It was awesome, and sets a very high bar for this year's cake.

And yes, I am that old. :)

(I know some of you are, too. But I know many are not even close, so you can't possibly understand. Yet. Soon enough young people, soon enough)

FWIW i just turned 47 :-). Only 3 years until I can join the AARP!

When i turned 40 my friends through me a surprise wake. It was hysterical.

Happy early birthday, ruined surprise cake and all -- I will be overly busy in another state on yours. this is likely my last chance to check up on LJ/DW for a month :).

hee, thanks, fellow dinosaur!

I found out that the cake's coming from a winner of Cupcake Wars, so while it's no golden pyramid, it should be yummy!
