Fannish loot!
Some fun stuff I've gotten lately--
The Escape from the Mirkwood Spiders from The Hobbit LEGO set
(also the Helm's Deep set, but that's not put together yet).
It does actually spoil a bit of that scene in next year's movie, by the way, because it shows one of Jackson's changes.
I put it together all by myself! :D
The funniest thing about it is that it's got a sticker "Hobbit trilogy preview set" on it, and SO CLEARLY therefore, this scene and the Escape in the Barrels set were also made were likely in the first movie as well, before it was split to three.
Which... that's a lot actually to cram in there, if "Unexpected Journey" ended originally with the Barrel Escape (if not later), and a weird climax. So I'm just as glad they split it off, BUT the point is:
LEGOLAS AND TAURIEL KICK SPIDER ASS. BUYING MY TICKETS NOW THANK YOU.
Meanwhile, while I was making mistakes building stupid small LEGO trees, A was building his gift from Santa: a LEGO Technic Unimog. 2060 pieces. Motors. Pneumatic pumps.
We also made a fun video where the Unimog claw catches one of the big spiders and dumps it in the truck, but I'll spare you. :)
And in BSG loot news, it happened to come up that I own BSG stuff with the dad of a schoolmate of kiddo, and he happened to have the Emmy screener for S4 which he gave me.
now, dude, I am the first to admit that 4.5 had some issues and didn't deserve an Emmy anyway, BUT, if you see this hideous monstrosity you'll understand why it was never going to happen, regardless of the content.
First thing to note is that it holds ONE disk. Is this disk an actual episode? No it is not - it's a disk of "The story so far" and it has a DOWNLOAD code for Daybreak.
Because, as you know, Bob, Emmy voters are widely known for wanting to WORK AT IT to get their episodes. THis is why screeners exist in the first place.
The disk is encased in a large, clear red plastic cube that is not easy to open. Because red boxes are a common theme in BSG?
WHAT THE HELL NBCU?? Lords of Kobol, no wonder this show tanked at the Emmys if the presentation was always this sucky (and it wasn't actually - I have the miniseries Emmy screeners and they're not exciting but at least not actively turn-offs.)
Anyway.
I also got awesome minimates but I need to take pics.
Now to put together my Fanfiction Wrap Up of 2012 Post for launch New Year's Day. Gonna skip the Fandom Meme because the answer is "Still sort of clinging to BSG even while Tom Hiddleston's face took over my brain and pulled the rest of the MCU with it somehow". (But when I start plotting fics of Loki in Middle-Earth? I MAY HAVE A PROBLEM JUST SAYING)
