Political ads

Out here in California, it's "political ads on t.v." season. As anyone who's experienced this knows, they all sound alike after awhile. In honor of that my husband and I have come up with the following:

The Ice Cream Ballot Initiative

Ad 1: A little girl licking an ice cream cone, looking happy. Some famous actor says, "Ice Cream is Good."

Ad 2: An ordinary looking woman addresses the camera, from the middle of a preschool: "Everyone likes ice cream, but sometimes, too much ice cream can be bad for you. It contains fat and sugar, and our children don't need more of that. Think of the children and vote no on "ice cream is good"."

Ad 3: There's an image of a happy family, all eating ice cream. The image freezes and a serious looking man enters frame. "Some people don't want you to have ice cream. But do you know who's behind the "Say no to Ice cream campaign"? Picture changes to show a lot of old, fat, white men in some board room smoking cigarettes. Voice over continues, "Sacramento politicians want to deny you your right to ice cream. So send them a message and vote yes on "ice cream is good".

Well, you get the idea. It helps a lot, actually, to make interminable political ads tolerable. We just look at each other and say, "ice cream!".

I can only hope that it'll still be funny as November approaches!

it really does help make the ads bearable. "Ice cream!"

So, dude, did you read it? Yes, I'm that pathetically eager to know what you think...
