I received two fics for Yuletide and one for Mischief and Mistletoe! WOOT!

I know I hit the pinch-hit list a second time so I don't know whether both were totally last minute, or what, but still, that's freaking amazing.

1. For CJ Cherryh's Foreigner for my prompt of Bren/Tabini. I love Bren/Jago as much as the next person but I got that one last year so I was looking for something different and this was totally exactly right. Tabini is just perfect, musing (with not a little possessiveness) over his new toy, which you know he totally would, if we were ever in his head, and they ever actually got together like this.

( Learner )

2. For my favorite music videos of the day - the M83 Trilogy with the Special Kids. Great videos, and now I have a wonderful fic to go with them.

( The Whole of It )

3. And for Mischief and Mistletoe, the Loki/Sif exchange, I got a wonderfully sweet pre-canon winter tale.

( Moment of Accord )

I wrote only two fics this year, one for each exchange. One of them I got a bit carried away (technically I was still editing after it opened, oops). They were both great fun and I can't wait to reveal them in a week! :)
- I hope things aren't too awful for any of you affected by the storm. :(

- Yuletide signups close tomorrow for anyone still sitting on the fence... I am pretty sure which offer I will end up writing - Yulegoat Karma.

- I am five kudos away from a significant number on Poison Rain and it has stalled. IT IS TAUNTING ME. *whimper* However, despite that, I wrote almost 2K on the sequel. Despite the fact that I still need to do final edits on avengersfest. And get ready for NaNo/Big Bang on THURSDAY. And that everyone who cares knows I'm not working on it until next year. yep. Good plan, poor follow through.

- Holy shit, Star Wars Episode VII in 2015. Is this what it feels like to wake up in an alternate universe? But it does make me laugh, because if you ever had the thought that Star Wars was not going to be with us FOREVER, you are now officially wrong. I gotta say I agree with MrLiz who thinks Disney's getting off light.

- LOL at Jane Espenson's instant tweet hoping that they get to use SW characters in OUAT and then Josh Dallas said something about how he was sure Charming had to be Han. hee. It's especially funny as I was just saying elsewhere that OUAT should be able to use Marvel characters especially after Sunday's ep. Lots of characters have magic in the Marvelverse...

- Tomorrow is Halloween! Some of you know that we often do fun pumpkin carvings, but this year my pumpkin rotted away before I could even carve it! It turned all squishy and gross, and now I don't want to do it anymore. bleh.

Thank you for the birthday wishes! (and happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] centerspire today, if she's around! )

It wasn't the... um, best of birthdays, it turns out. There was a school picnic on that day and something I ate must have disagreed with me terribly either there or earlier, because I had to go home and just feel icky for awhile. So birthday dinner has been postponed. :(

But I did receive an awesome present from mrLiz and the kidlet:

photo under the cut of my Snowglobe of EVIL )

We saw it at the Disney store on our vacation and since I'm a Maleficient fan, MrLiz knew I'd love it. :) especially the Dragon part. Maleficient the Dragon is pretty much my most favorite part of any Disney movie ever and is the reason I usually claim Sleeping Beauty as my favorite Disney movie, even if it's probably not true overall.

And in the "Present to myself" department - I saw it was about to be sold out so I broke down and ordered the Hot Toys Loki. I already have the Black Widow on order (as part of a X-mas present "swap" with hubby, who wanted the Catwoman), so now all three will be able to make out stand next to each other and be awesome. (as if D will ever take the Catwoman out of the box.ha!)

y'know, it must be weird to have toys made of you that look so much like you. When the likenesses were terrible it was probably easier to shrug off, but now, some of these are so SPOT ON it must be a little odd. Seriously, that Black Widow looks like they miniaturized ScarJo through some kind of magic. D thought it was a placeholder photo still at first, not the prototype.
Because I LOVE LOVE LOVE this picture you guys.

HIS FACE )

I'm kind of annoyed that my crosspost from FYMTrucco tumblr to the twitter account doesn't give me the caption anymore. BOOOOO. Now twitter subscribers can't tell what the picture is anymore, that's stupid.

But new pics have gotten me back to tumblr now that I have stuff to post again, at least a few things.

(wasn't there a show or doll or something called My Melody? er anyway)

Melody is my new laptop who has a functional keyboard and she is AWESOME. I feel like I can type again! I have written more fic today than in the past month, just because the keyboard actually works. yayyayayayay

of course, it's not without flaws. Some of the keys are in weird-ass places and Word's doing some weird thing where it seems to be spontaneously giving me four pages to view at a time which is hella annoying when I'm trying to type, but I'll figure out how to fix it. Little irksome things like that. I don't like programs doing things I didn't tell it to do. *grump*

So, that is a fun, exciting thing. I still have a bunch of things to do, to get Melody to have the stuff on her I want (for ex, there's no music yet - I'm using my amazon cloud for now, at least it has the newer stuff). But at least we're getting there and writing is proceeding, yay!

So, um, [livejournal.com profile] sunshine_queen called me Queen of Trucconia.

This, naturally, made me think that Trucconia must,in fact, be next to Tricialand.

Which, OF COURSE, made me think of fantasy maps. AS YOU DO.

So I have made a map of the Empire Of Hot People.

It is not, I hurry to say, All-inclusive, focusing mainly of the Alliance of Battlestar Kingdoms, But, um, I did include at least a few others.

THE MAP )

YOU GUISE.

PAUL WESLEY WAS JUST BEHIND ME AT STARBUCKS.

I did not freak out, I didn't even talk to him, (he probably didn't even know I recognized him).
It was however definitely him, despite his attempt to go "incognito" -- because he said his name while he was on the phone making dinner reservations.

my one Stealthy Phone pic )

I was either giving him his space or I was a big chicken. I'm not sure. :)

Belated SQUEEE. *G*

(My comments for last night's ep are in the previous post, fyi)
First of all, the best parts might actually have been when Jared Leto has fun screwing with people's brains. My favorite bit? There's this part where he goes out in the audience each time, with guitar to play a couple of songs alone. This time, he goes out there and says: "Since this is a hometown crowd we're going to try out a new song with you guys." *cue wild screaming* "Yeah, new song. Hope you guys like it." *more wild yelling* A few people, like me, who are wise to his tricks, wait. Jared plays the opening chords of THE KILL. I LOL'd SO HARD

At home listening to my recording, it gets a bit awkward because Jared uses fuck a LOT. like, a lot, with my seven-year-old right there because I've totally brainwashed him into being a fan. But then it gets AWKWARD because he starts joking about the Hurricane video and now kiddo wants to see it. Um, no actually, kidlet, you may not see the video even though you know the song.

I will be nice and cut my ridiculous fannish glee flailing about Jared Leto and how he cracks me the hell up )

In sum, I have no idea what Jared Leto is like in real life, but his persona is fantastically entertaining in addition to the music. well worth seeing live.

I think, If I figured the SF/F bracket properly, given the votes at closing, boys will be against boys, and girls will be against girls. No, wait, that's not the amazing part.

IT IS COMPLETE PARITY.

CHECK IT OUT )

Damn, it's kind of beautiful how symmetrical that worked out.

(and relevant only to me -- Sam ended tied with Bill, at least. WHAT? It's the little things!)

It's one of my favorite times of the year! CHARACTER PREMLIMS!

*refreshes poll again*

KONO IS CATCHING UP TO DANNY. GRACE FANS REPRESENT!

I love how spread out the love is for the characters on Justified. Because they're all great, and while Raylan obvs dominates, there's lots of love for all the secondaries.

The three people who picked Nikki for LOST crack me up. Rock on, you crazy people!

Also, throw some pity votes at Anders? FOR ME? *blinks winsomely* Kara's got in the bag anyway, and Sam beat out Sobbin' Adama last year....

Mo Ryan says that possible Cylon War webseries is going to be a movie and back-door pilot instead. eee! Tenth year of the war... If it goes to series, you know what this means? FINAL FIVE, BABY. (which is both thrilling and kind of terrifying, since I like my fanon, eep) But I liked the flashbacks to the war, so a full movie would be pretty cool at least. Michael Taylor wrote the script, and W/T are on board, too. *wiggles delightedly*

Decision on Caprica will be Nov 15, btw. After they see a few more weeks of numbers, I presume. But good heavens, they keep that cast/crew on a string, don't they?

Also, I watched "Lost Girl" ep 1. Very fun! (and also not so close to my NaNo Project as I feared, phew, though that one guy reminds me of JR Bourne a little too much and it keeps distracting me.) I'm not a femslasher, but, um, hello, it does kind of leap off the screen, doesn't it? lol.

Kind of like Katee and Tricia's cross-country motorcycle ride, amirite? y'all have contaminated me, I swear - before fandom I would never have even considered RPF. And now it seems SO OBVIOUS.

AAAAND there was Vampire Diaries awesome.

And a plan c, and a plan d -- you do know the alphabet, don't you? )

And I enjoyed Nikita as well. *deep breath* okay, now I'm done.

Yuletide Fandom Nominations are Open!

Someone nominated Crossfire the Video before me! Five minutes after nominations opened! <3 <3
(though I don't know why the hell they added the ninjas. Adding obscure characters makes it really hard to offer 'Any" for a writer, which in turn makes matching more difficult. Add ONLY the characters you want/need, not everybody ever!)

Now to ponder whether I want to stick with those six, or change them...

Caramel frapp. The new Anberlin. I also somehow managed to add 1K of my BB, without even filling in the scene that's missing.

And new gif gifts from [livejournal.com profile] mfirefly10! *squish*

farscape and bsg )

If it weren't for the stupid soccer meeting getting rescheduled right on top of my bday dinner and/or Vampire Diaries and Nikita tonight, it'd be pretty perfect. :)
I went to San Diego! I have now met and hung out with the lovely and talented [livejournal.com profile] frolicndetour and [livejournal.com profile] nicole_anell. Yay!

[livejournal.com profile] nicole_anell was actually AT con and I'm sure will have many interesting things to say about what she saw in her report. But all I can tell you is:

a. It's crowded. Even on the outside.

b. Little kids look cute dressed up as anything. I should have taken a picture of the Wee!Thor (since it reminded me of someone else's Baby Thor.... *g* ).

c. SOMEONE WAS STABBED! IN THE EYE!

or, not quite, but it was an awesome story. It made the paper and everything. Seat dispute gone wrong. (clearing between panels in the future? I think so, after this.)

But despite our half-hearted attempt at nerdery dork-dom geekery by not attending the con, I'm pretty sure [livejournal.com profile] frolicndetour and I made up for it with fangirl discussions. I showed off my loot collection and we jointly decided that our guilt over our unfinished [livejournal.com profile] help_haiti projects is destroying our souls, and we really should do something, asap.

I might have also overshared my kidlet-inspired animal knowledge when we went to the zoo. Random trivia on polar bears, I HAS IT! FYI: six year old humans and two-year-old gorillas are EXACTLY THE SAME. (and omg so cute)

Speaking of, she's also the only one of you fannish friends to have spent much time with the short person. yes, you can be jealous now. :)

And also, I had very bad Parking Karma. What did I DO, universe??

AWESOME!

and, FYI, amazon has 30 Second to Mars -- 'This is War', on download for $5. It's frakking epic.

I ... can't get over how awesome my shows were tonight!

(oh, and just FYI - in case anyone is still under the impression that the CW believes it's targeting boys - it says quite clearly in all its network materials that it's targeting WOMEN 18-34. Well, um, we won't discuss how I'm not quite in that demo anymore. *cough* but IT'S WORKING, DAWN, OKAY?)

er, um, Supernatural first, since I actually watched it first (I have this issue with 8 pm shows, and I have to time shift them)

SPN: POINT OF NO RETURN )

On the other hand, the promo monkeys managed to strip out everything even interesting from the promo for next week. I understand not giving away the twist, but WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT??

er, anyway. Onto my other show of awesome... TVD.

TVD: UNDER CONTROL -- Or, not so much really. )

HAPPY SQUEE DAY!

I got my assignment. EEEEE! Now to refamiliarize myself with canon, because ... oh boy it's been awhile and I have exactly zero story ideas at the moment. (I am amused though, because I actually LOOKED at my recipient's Yule Goat letter a few days ago, and knew it was one of the possibles.)

The Big Bang Artist Snafu II has resulted in my uploading new, more fitting icons for the fic, which I wouldn't have done if I'd posted it Weds. So there's that unexpected benefit! Shiny new icons! yay!

And also I am writing BSG crack. yay?

I'm not going to change it til the fic goes live, but I am so thrilled!

Merci beaucoup!

First, yesterday, I posted fic! Fic which has been sitting around on my computer at 80% finished (like most of my WIPs) for MONTHS. ETA: for my non-SPN friends, this fic is basically 100% BSG-Verse with an OFC. People who know SPN will know who she is, but Sam doesn't and you meet her through his eyes.

Second, that helped me make good progress on Ariadne and I'm going to do some more today.

Third, I heard the new 30 Seconds to Mars single this morning! (official release for the single is next week - the album is due in... Nov, IIRC)

Fourth, I've been uploading the first two stories to Archive of Our Own, the fanfiction archive run by the OTW, now that I grabbed a "OMG MY GEOCITIES SITE IS CLOSING, GIMME A HOME" invite. It's still in closed beta testing, but it's already WAY AWESOMER than ff.net. I was a bit confuzzled for that first minute when I looked at the interface, but then I tried it and it's really easy. I can totally see where they're gonna need "tag wranglers" because that's gonna get out of hand in about a heartbeat.

(I LOVE LOVE LOVE in the TOS where they can't be responsible for "bad spelling you may run across." *dies* )

Anyway, I am (unsurprisingly) Lizardbeth over there.

Last night, I went to the Pet Shop Boys in concert. OMG what a blast!

I took some videos. They're not long, mostly snippets from the beginning to show the staging of certain songs.

And also video of the two funniest bits you can possible see at a pop concert EVER!

YouTube embeds under the cut )

I wish I'd gotten a picture of the PLANT on Chris Lowe's head when they came out for the encore. THEY ARE WACKY AND AWESOME.

The end.
