Thanksgiving was busy, and the busy doesn't stop really as the holidays get going, plus soccer won't end until kiddo's team gets kicked out of the playoffs so practice and games are still sucking up a lot of the free time. but they finished the season in second place in their division!

My avengersfest fic posted, though I'll have to link to it when it's not anon anymore. My recip seemed to like it, so that's good.

Plugging away on my Avengers/crossover big bang- got 10K left for NaNo which should finish the story. Then ... revision, because good heavens this thing. Not that it's especially terrible since I think the plot is decent, but it needs some work. (like, if you have someone who can walk through walls - he probably doesn't need a door, right? argh. stupid mutants.) But heh, Nick Fury swears a lot more in my fic than he does in the movies. It's Sam Jackson, I just can't not hear it.

Next up: Yuletide and the Clint/Natasha exchange. I haven't started either, but at least I know what the Yuletide fic will be since US Weekly handed me the perfect inspiration for it. heh.

Not Prime Time ficathon has opened! This was designed for fandoms too big for yuletide but not super-ginormous so there are a lot of fandoms that are generally popular, so you're likely to find something you like. (well, fandom-wise - it's still pretty small, so I make no promises regarding characters)

And I has awesome fic!

Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles about Sarah coming to the future in the finale and a familiar face.
Sleeping with the Dead
Go forth and read!

NPT Ficathon finally released into the wild (in other words - I've done what editing I'm going to, before the archive opens). I feel like I've only worked on it for about two days, but it's been more than a week. Time flies when you're in a state of flanic. :)

Now I get to go back to other projects interrupted by this foray into derangement. Which you'll find out about soon enough, since author reveals are soon. (not that it's hard to figure out mine, I'm sure)

Archive opens tomorrow/later today! yay!

Good ZOMG!
For those not at [livejournal.com profile] facing_kate, I posted a HAWT behind-the-scenes pic of Trucco. Don't say I don't do anything for you. :)

The Big Bang is ridiculously long. I mean, srsly, this started as CRACKFIC. It wasn't ever supposed to be more than 20K (minimum for the 12C challenge). Where did I go wrong? *whimper*

Speaking of [livejournal.com profile] twelve_colonies and crack, I need to stop thinking of songs to hijack for the song challenge and actually write one. *snicker*
[livejournal.com profile] bsg_bigbang has now put up the drop-out post. Rough drafts are due in a week, and final drafts are due in Sept. 6.

hrmpf. And this is where my distraction-by-shiny has not served well. I have the minimum words but nowhere near the whole story. Not to mention I would have to finish the full draft by mid Aug since I'm going away on vacation, and while I can probably re-edit there, I'm not likely to be able to really write much. Plus beta time.

Which looks very bleak, but I do have things written in other files. I should probably put it all together and then see where I'm really at.

*

In other news, not only do I have a broken hinge, my G key is wonky. It seems okay right now, but sometimes it just stops working. dumb thing.

And there was Lost-flavored K/S fic yesterday, if you missed it.
mmm, I could just watch Callum hold guns on people all day. *fangirl sigh*

(okay, that was from yesterday which didn't manage to post. but it's still true. And completely BSG's fault, I was not nearly so fannish before that. I do find him much more attractive older than I did when he was younger. When, erm, I was younger as well. Coincidence? I think not.)

Today!

Today I signed up for [livejournal.com profile] bsg_remix because I am ... not as intelligent as I should be. But it should be fun. Crazy-making, but fun.

Jury duty tomorrow. Which, for a variety of reasons, is a COMPLETE waste of time, and yet still mandated. SO. I will go and be bored. I'll bring the WeePC so hopefully there'll be fic, even if there's no wireless IIRC.

Title from today's Better Off Ted. because Veronica gets all the best lines. I keep wanting to try a Porn Battle with her -- because that scene when she and Ted are singing "You and Me Babe" is a perfect set-up or with Linda bagel-tossing (though I'm not much for femslash, but even I can see the potential there), but it's a pretty intimidating style to mimic.

Hello, my name is Lizardbeth and I'm a Ficathon Addict.

- [livejournal.com profile] chaos_thon minimum of 5 K (plus all the other stuff I want to do for it)

PLUS, I have my ep for [livejournal.com profile] planetside_c and I suppose y'all would like Not All that We Are 4 in a somewhat timely manner...

YAY, I get to post!

Word Count: 63K
Rating: R
Pairings: Kara/Sam, Sam/Thea Six
Spoilers: S3 (an AU version of S.3)
Warnings: non-explicit sex and some violence
Beta: Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] greycoupon and [livejournal.com profile] sabaceanbabe for their help making this more readable.

Previous stories: Not All That We Are and At the Labyrinth Gates. For a quick refresher you can read the Previouslies. Both together are about half of this one, so there's not that much to catch up on before you start.

Note: This AU series was begun and planned before S.4. Although I've incorporated some of what we learned and major events remain parallel, this is an entirely separate mythology and history.

Summary: Revelation. Prophecy. Destiny. This has all happened before, but does it have to happen again?

With New Caprica now behind them, both sides struggle to find the right path. Sam recovers from his ordeal at Cylon hands, while his visions insist that his destiny is tied to the Cylons and Earth. When the gods give Kara proof that her faith is not in vain, she plans to keep her promise and rescue Sam. They both dream of meeting again, but the truth may be more than either of them can bear.

I am so sorry for the lateness and I hope it's worth it! Thank you to the loverly [livejournal.com profile] ancarett for the beta. And thanks to [livejournal.com profile] jebbypal for running the ficathon.

This story takes place immediately after Born to Run, in the alternate future, and utilizes a few characters from Terminator Salvation.

Numbered Days )

Sunday we went to the Festival of Books, which is this really awesome event held at UCLA each year. It's huge. I missed out on the festival merchandise, which is sad because it had the MOST ADORABLE caterpillar from "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" on it (Eric Carle was one of the big guests), but otherwise it was great fun. Kidlet liked listening to some of the story times, though he was also a bit overwhelmed by the crowd. I found a really great booth for a company that specializes in bilingual children's books, and bought him a couple of picture books in English and Japanese, to introduce him to what Japanese looks like.

I had a headache which made me sick to my stomach - that's the first time I've ever bought crackers at Ackerman Union, I think. We also supported our alma mater, by buying more t-shirts for everyone. I think I'm incapable of NOT buying a shirt when I'm on campus.

It's come to my attention that my [livejournal.com profile] stargate_summer story is due in about three weeks! OMG!

COMMENCE PANICKED FLAILING! Yes, it's Yuletide Madness in May!

And speaking of Stargate, you can read my recap for "Exodus", HERE .

This is from last night, but it is still amusing to me. The ... thing that happens at the end of the episode in Dexter? We go to that park. It's NOWHERE near Miami. *snerk*

Speaking of things 'round here, it's been raining steadily since about 9 pm last night. It is STILL raining, which is amazing and awesome!

I signed up for [livejournal.com profile] stargate_summer after dithering about it last night (dithering because I'm kind of reluctant to put my whacked-out minor character, odd genre idea out in public like that.... ) But YAY! I don't know if trying a wholesale rewrite is going to be easier or harder than starting something from scratch. I'd like it'll be easier, but... I'll definitely need to do some heavy-duty rewatching to get myself back in the frame of mind again.

Dear Chuck, I'm sorry, you are a distant third in my dvr priorities tonight. You are not one of my t.v. boyfriends or the "fall finale" of SCC and so I will have to catch up with you later.

BACK TO YULETIDE FIC.

You know [livejournal.com profile] yuletide is getting big when...

- there are over a hundred offers for your four fandoms (total - that doesn't mean 100 people match) Still, since I don't ask for anything particularly bizarre, I bet I match on at least fifty, easily. FIFTY!!!!

- there are a hundred offers to write Discworld, and you didn't request Discworld. A hundred!

- you watch the numbers on one of the fandoms you offered to write, hoping other people STOP offering on it because they're reducing your chances

- you're excited that someone finally requested Pensacola: Wings of Gold fic, even though you've NEVER ACTUALLY SEEN THE SHOW, just because it's Trucco's former show.

- you cynically wonder how many of these cheerful bright eyed newbies are gonna default.

- Chuck. I DO NOT GET IT. (I enjoy the show as much as the next person but, c'mon, 41 REQUESTS?!?!?!) There are lots of other fandoms, people!

- 16 brave people volunteered to write Deadwood. *loves*

- and 11 people want to write BSG RPF. *chortles* That will either be awesome or awesomely bad.

- oh, and the two people who tried to cheat and sneak in Trek and Prince of Tennis: still have no offers to write for them. hahaha. karmic justice, yo.

1. I think I will run an SCC exchange. Yuletide has 11 requesters right now, and 50 offerers, and even presuming half of those people aren't in the "fandom" as such, there are also people in the fandom who are not doing Yuletide. Which is enough.

2. But hard on the heels of the first, with SCC having a fairly visible presence in Yuletide, I won't start even taking prompts until after Christmas. It's entirely possible since Yuletide matching is random that SCC could end up with all 11 people getting their requests written, or none of them. Let's see what the fic turn out actually is and give people some time to think of new prompts.

3. Which will put the exchange right over the new episodes. Which is not ideal. Bah. I'm sure other people are less neurotic about canon/getting jossed than I am, but still, it might make people hesitate when they don't know what's coming.

4. So maybe this should be a hiatus project? But that puts it so far away...

Thoughts?

*

speaking of...

DEAR CHUCK FANDOM -
you need your own Secret Santa exchange next year. 30 requests is not a "small fandom".

*deep breath*

Okay, I did my signups for [livejournal.com profile] yuletide. I had an original list of fandoms to offer to write and ended up with ten. And, as always, I'm filled with GUILT and tempted to go back and add more. I still might depending on how the requests shake out. Except it's so tedious to fill out the form...

y'know what I should've nominated? The Armadillo Man commercial from Capital One. Now THAT's a commercial crying out for fanfic. Or maybe it's me. :)

It's sort of sad to see fandoms with lots of people willing to write, and no request...

[livejournal.com profile] sg_rarepairings has gone live! YAYAYAYAYAY!

So, two fics to pimp:

One, the one written for ME!
Waiting for You
by [livejournal.com profile] writinginct
Cameron Mitchell/Sam Carter
This is really lovely romantic fic, post-series, about finding their way together slowly, and how a few honest words back when they were children linger on for years and years.

and,
the one I wrote:

Half the Distance to the Open Door
Baal/Qetesh pairing, but really, this is Vala's story and how she becomes Qetesh's host in the Continuum alternate timeline.

Rated R for sexual content, consent issues, and general lack of fluff
Well, I think I got schooled in what people want me to write next. *eyes flist warily* But thank you for playing.

Of course, the truly first priority thing I need to write is write the "Tok'ra Part One" recap for [livejournal.com profile] redial_the_gate for next week. But recaps are always so much fun, even if this one's not quite as snark-worthy as "Bloodlines" was. Martouf! *squishes him and his FUNNY HAT* (honestly, isn't he lucky Sam looked at him again after the tragic fashion faux pas of the hat?)

See, recaps pretty much write themselves.

Unfortunately prompts for [livejournal.com profile] sg_rarepairings comment-a-thon aren't writing themselves. I can only think of a few random words at a time apparently. But go forth and add prompts - you don't have to be a member of the comm or intend to write. Ship or friendship/gen are okay. They just can't be Weir/Shep, McShep, Daniel/Jack, or Jack/Sam or crossovers. Who knows, maybe someone will be inspired by your random request for Anise/Mitchell.

I probably won't write any of the prompts, any more than I wrote anything for LeapGate (comment!fic is hard for me, people), but ... someone should!
