We went to the Dodger game yesterday for Father's Day. It was very cute that the players' kids got to throw out the first pitch of the game. All the little people in Dodger blue! awwww. There weren't a lot of hits, esp early on, but there was one spectacularly bad call (that took a run away!) that got the stadium up in arms so that was exciting. Also I was so happy that Capuano was pitching, because I'm friends with a guy with the same name so it's great fun to imagine him on the mound. Everytime they said his name or it went up on the board at a strikeout, I was all "Yay Chris!" Made it more fun.

I've written so many tv reviews lately and dealt with Kidlet finishing school for the year, I haven't been able to do much fic. Haven't even been to tumblr for a week (I am the worst mod in the history of fansite modding). But here's the links for anyone interested in my tv review stuff:

First, a very silly recap for [livejournal.com profile] bsg_epics: Water- with macros . If any of you recognize portions of this recap give yourself a gold star. Seriously, I was through about half of it and suddenly realized: This has all happened before...

Also, my reviews for Fairly Legal - Finale (mostly negative) ETA: someone commented to call me out on being uncool for saying Ben's 'not all that and a bag of chips.' Sorry I'm not a hipster enough for you, random person!

Also my review for Longmire - Damn Shame (mostly positive). (I try not to get all carried away with the squee, but Katee does have some fun reactions in this one) And for them I'm watching Grimm, which I knew very little about except that it was on Fridays and seemed to be a knockoff of Supernatural, so Here's my review of the first four episodes with bonus Supernatural commentary .

My BSG rewatch post for CliqueClack: the miniseries .

I am soliciting opinions on that rewatch!

Which is, btw, superseding my own here since between that one and the Epics one, it seems silly to do a third post. My original intent was to do chronological rewatch. The format I have to use for the site doesn't lend itself to writing it up as piecemeal as I tried here. BUT I still want to watch Razor and The Plan earlier than S4, because it makes no sense to wait on a spoilery rewatch. So when do you think would be a good time to watch the movies? The Plan is bookended with LDYB, so I could watch it after LDYB2. Any other point you think might be better? And when's the best time to watch Razor in its entirety? (not worrying about spoilers, since everyone going into this should be familiar with the entire series)
First, since [livejournal.com profile] bsg_remix is now all over I can claim mine:

( Fate Averted )
a remix of [livejournal.com profile] lostinapapercup Things to do on Galactica When You're Dead
main: Kara, Sam, Boomer, Gaeta, Laura (with some Bill, Caprica, Tigh, etc)
(Kara/Sam, Boomer/Tyrol, and Laura/Bill)

Summary: Five small changes, five lives altered

(Note: [livejournal.com profile] lostinapapercup's fic is really lovely and sad, taking on all those canon deaths. And while we all know I eat up angst with a spoon, I realized that a way to remix it was to take the same situations and show how they all might have lived if Ron weren't also into deadly angst with one small change. Or, IOW, a Five Things Fix-It.)

And Now Rewatch Day 2: all the other stuff around the Fall of the Colonies. That includes the Razor Flashbacks, Downloaded flashback sequence of Caprica Six, and that part of The Plan.

Meanwhile, back on the Caprica ranch... )

Okay that's about enough for today, tomorrow "33".
Feel free to join in. :)
Rewatch - already a day late. heh. Well, there you go. At least I did it though.

I did start with the Razor flashbacks - at least the ones I could find easily, since I discovered I didn't have them as a separate file as I thought. But I found them today, so I'll talk about them with the other 'extras' for tomorrow.

A little about my first experience watching the show. I watched when it first aired, and as a childhood fan of OldSkool I was ... a bit nervous. I realized it could be updated and improved, plus I was at least somewhat familiar with RDM's work on Star Trek so I knew he had the experience, so rebooting it as such didn't bother me. Making Starbuck a woman was fine (Apollo was my favorite in Old Skool - had they switched that instead, I might have been more dubious, but as it was, I didn't mind). Eliminating Athena as Adama's daughter - of course, I had no idea that there would eventually be an Athena was less fine. Making Boomer female and Asian was awesome. Making Tigh white was the change I disliked the most - both Boomer and Tigh were black in Classic, and suddenly there were none. It still bothers me a bit, tbh - I do love Michael Hogan and I think he did a fabulous job, but yeah. Anyway.

So it was with a bit of trepidation that I watched it. And I remember liking it, but the funny thing is I don't really remember much more than that because my son was born later that week. :) I have watched it again, once, since, but even that was several years ago. So here we go from the beginning, a bit of liveblog as I watch.

The miniseries )

Tomorrow will be all the 'extra bits" relating to the attacks -- Razor flashbacks, the first part of The Plan dealing with the attacks, and the part of Downloaded that deals with Caprica's resurrection.

Hope you had fun. It was fun for me to go back and revisit!

Feel free to comment on anything regarding the miniseries that you want to - what I mentioned, what I didn't. It's not a recap as such, so I skip over a lot.

First of all, [livejournal.com profile] rose_griffes wrote a lovely POI fic for me, for [livejournal.com profile] wegetcarter, Three Sides, over here . You should go read it. And also I need to write mine.

I didn't write it today because I was too busy writing a rebuttal. Look, I usually control my urges to write rebuttals of everything in sight, but sometimes it gets away from me.

So over at [livejournal.com profile] bsg_epics there was a characterization activity today wherein someone slotted Sam into insecure and I decided I needed to challenge it. Because it touched on that doormat fanon that I can't stand. (probably didn't help that Trucco went and was adorably perfect on Twitter again)

my Anders manifesto - or something )

And in other topics, as I mentioned on Twitter, I have this really overpowering urge to reach into my t.v. and rescue Arya. I just can't. It's hard. Sansa's situation is awful, but Arya's really makes me want to bring her here to live so I can take care of her and keep her safe. :(

I'm endlessly amused that so far not one person at Mark Watches has mentioned "WE'RE GOING THE WRONG WAY!!" which is honestly one of the things I remember the most about those first two eps of S4. Because that was a THING. Wasn't it? It was SO MUCH A THING at the time. lol

But it does raise a small point I thought about -- BSG spoilers? I guess if you still care? )

Things I think about while writing NaNo. yes. Speaking of NaNo, I definitely will need a beta. I mean, I will anyway, obv, but I have no idea if Julie is coming off as too much of a bitch right out of the gate. But it doesn't matter right now. ONWARD!

So here's the thing: I'm writing a Kara/Sam/Lee triad marriage/relationship epic. (based on This bit of porn . And I'm trying to do it the bsg-way - or how it might have gone in canon.

And since I didn't actually ever watch Caprica, I have a few questions relating in a general way for flisters who watched it. Plus some bsg discussion.

cut for the details )

And also, I now seem to be in need of a K/S/L icon. Anyone?
In the wake of Flashforward's finale and some more bemoaning about Answers and Lack Thereof, I was thinking about LOST.

Now, I'm the first person to admit that the main draw for it to me was the puzzle aspect of it. So you'd think I'd be one of the main people all ragey because I didn't get all the pieces to the puzzle. But I'm not.

(some vague references to the LOST finale, no specific spoilers, and some BSG mentions as well)

thoughts, I has them: on puzzles, writing serial works, and television )

So apparently all these shows ending have made me very nostalgic for the Days of Yore when teal deer were more commonly spotted in this corner of the LJ woods. heh.

I'm sad it's over. Except for The Plan, I suppose, but that's a ways off anyway.

'ware lengthiness.

spoilers? y'think? )

I am well into a finale fic, by the way, thanks to an inopportune plot bunny that bit me last week. *sigh* because, yeah, I needed another project to work on.
TWO HOURS LEFT! (or really only 85 minutes, or thereabouts. cheaters.) *CRIES*

Spoilers )

And then I watched my Bruins get their asses kicked. damn it, team!

ETA: Apparently many parentheses died in the making of this post. my bad.
*kicks Time Warner again for making me late, screwing up my weekend, and just on general principles*

once upon a time in spoiler city, there was a girl, and a teal deer put its head on her lap )

Also, I should note that watching this on the computer while hubby happened to channel surf to Trucco's SVU ep is EXTREMELY DISCORDANT.

Well, jeez, that took two days with little to show for it. Such is the state of life right now.

Spoilery spoilers )

every week I say it, and every week it's still true. I need next week!
(but then there'll be only a few more, and I'll be sad)
Copied from my post at TWOP in a discussion about how the Dylons have reacted to their Cylonitude differently.

spoilers through Blood on the Scales )

What I was thinking about today. Discuss?
lizardbeth: (Kara-Anders Rapture)

( Feb. 7th, 2009 05:06 pm)
I think I'm all recovered from "Blood on the Scales". *deep breath* I really, really need it to be next Friday RIGHT NOW. I couldn't stop thinking about it all frakking day.

I'm going to miss this show so damn much.

cut for random comments and sounds only dolphins can hear )

There's more I could babble on about, but it's dinner time.

( Jan. 30th, 2009 11:08 pm)
I have nothing to say that isn't spoilery.

look, even neutral Cylon Raider icon!

Though I really ought to just slap 'Team Cylon' on there and be done with it.

Can't be bothered to type out the whole title.

reactions, some thoughts.

For children to come into their own, their parents have to die. )

It's been a bit of a madhouse around here tonight. So I think that's it for now.

( Jan. 18th, 2009 10:38 pm)
It's all done. NOW I AM SAD. But I did get to see [livejournal.com profile] greycoupon and [livejournal.com profile] ebneter again, and I finally got to meet [livejournal.com profile] cujoy in person! What fangirly awesome fun we had.

and I will cut all the auction and episode reaction stuff, since I'm going on and on. Beware the TEAL DEER )

Huh, this not spending money thing is kind of tiring. But good fun to hang out and talk theories and shows and OMGYAY stuff.

Oh, I forgot! I talked with the costume designer briefly about the Bucs costumes, because I made one, and she told me about the costumes for THE PLAN. v v cool!
Once upon a time, I had math in school. I also moonlighted as a graduate student in history.

I have brought both to bear on this. So BE AFRAID. :)

No spoilers I can think of. A whole lot of speculation, however.

A long time ago, in the Galactica-verse... )

Note that this does NOT get into any of my Cylon/spiritual spec because that's a bit more spoilery.

But I do think that EoJ/Rapture should be taken as the canon point of departure for the 13th tribe. That's when RDM was setting up the Five, and is presumably the date which everything written afterward is going to use.
(and yes, this is [livejournal.com profile] lyssie's fault. Shippy "fairy tale" and meta discussion follows. Not your bag, don't read it.)

Once upon a time, there was a girl. She was a fiesty thing... )

and now for some meta -- narrative )
I have a theory about the Last Supper pic and the Final Cylon. Which I haven't seen yet (though I certainly haven't looked either). But it hit me last night when I was looking at the photo, which is my desktop image.

Watch the show this week completely make me wrong BUT if I'm right, I wanted to get this up first.

The Cylon God is killing a kitten right now. I know. SO SAD. Sorry kitty! )

I will snuggle my new theory tightly until at least Friday!
